We wanted to launch our label with a bang – taking the world’s most popular style of beer and using it to provide access to clean water for 1,000,000 people. What’s more, our lager is the product of a close collaboration with craft brewing partners and punk pioneers, BrewDog. With BrewDog’s track record in making some of the world’s best tasting and most recognisable craft beers, we think we’ve found the perfect partner to make sure that what’s inside our cans is the best lager we can make.

The Clean Water recipe comes from deep within the locker of BrewDog’s most experimental brewer, Stephen Allerston. Stephen brewed the first 1000 litres back on the 19th January, inspired by the Brewgooder mission to make a unique and full flavoured lager. Made with a unique blend of Saaz and Sorachi Ace hops – with a touch of wheat for that perfectly poured, foamy head – this craft beer takes the best of lager heritage and gives it a modern Eastern twist.

Our partnership with BrewDog has also allowed us to carry out our first production run of 200,000 cans right here in Scotland, adding to the growing list of great beers the country has produced over the past 10 years.

Keg at BrewDog Soho. Dark gold, clear with a small imprint of white head. Fresh but.muted cirussy scent. The sweetish taste has a unwelcome spicy grainy note. A bit rough and messy with a long dirty finish. Not the best beer I’ve had this evening shall we say. I approve of it though, shame it isn’t better.

Keg @ Brewdog Leeds, Leeds. Golden-yellow with a thinnish head. Crisp and clean tasting lager, which is apt given what this charitable beer is promoting. Has an ordinary nose, but its very palatable texture appeals. Has a mild sweetness.

Can from Cork & Cask. Clear golden body with a medium white head. Steady carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of pithy lemon and herbs. Flavour of grass, papery malts and barley. Thin body with a watery, slightly oily texture. Soft fizz. Simple and easy to drink.

Keg at BD CJ. It pours clear golden - amber with a decent white head. The aroma is fresh, grassy, grainy cereal, straw and some creaminess. The taste is crisp, mellow bitterness, grainy, cereal, grass, some caramel / toffee and straw wit ha dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. A fairly simple lager bier. Hopefully the full - on canned batch will be a bit brighter and hoppier than this initial one.

Tap at Uiltje bar as Brewgooder Kolsch 4.6%. Clear light golden with white head. Sweet dry malts, dusty, dough, biscuits, light grassy. Light sweet and bitter. Under medium bodied. Seems more like a kolsch indeed, no idea if it might be a new entry.

Brewdog Clapham. Keg. Bright clear gold beer, small off white head. Palate is light, semi dry and has a good fine minerally crispness. Clean pale malts, slightly bready. Minerals. Mild citrus. Light crisp finish. Clean and crisp but otherwise recessed. Not getting the Sorachi or Saaz, just generic hop.
