We wanted to launch our label with a bang – taking the world’s most popular style of beer and using it to provide access to clean water for 1,000,000 people. What’s more, our lager is the product of a close collaboration with craft brewing partners and punk pioneers, BrewDog. With BrewDog’s track record in making some of the world’s best tasting and most recognisable craft beers, we think we’ve found the perfect partner to make sure that what’s inside our cans is the best lager we can make.

The Clean Water recipe comes from deep within the locker of BrewDog’s most experimental brewer, Stephen Allerston. Stephen brewed the first 1000 litres back on the 19th January, inspired by the Brewgooder mission to make a unique and full flavoured lager. Made with a unique blend of Saaz and Sorachi Ace hops – with a touch of wheat for that perfectly poured, foamy head – this craft beer takes the best of lager heritage and gives it a modern Eastern twist.

Our partnership with BrewDog has also allowed us to carry out our first production run of 200,000 cans right here in Scotland, adding to the growing list of great beers the country has produced over the past 10 years.

Can from lowcostbeer.com, can't read BBE date. Light cloudy gold with white consistent top. Sweet, grains, straw, apricot on the nose. Taste is sweet, tangy apricot, grass, a slight creaminess to it. Light to medium bodied, semi-drying. Decent hoppy lager.

330ml bottle. Poured a slightly hazy golden straw colour with a thin broken white head. The aroma is grainy malt, funky yeast, light toffee caramel. The flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet, with a crisp, malty, light toffee, stone fruit, melon palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

On tap at BrewDog Brum Pours clear gold with white head. A lager. An essence of lager to be more precise. Sweetish but still a little bit hoppy. Good.

On tap at BrewDog Edinburgh Airport. ABV at 4.7% iirc. Clear golden colour, white head. Aroma of loads of Sorachi Ace, quite sweet, vanilla, corn syrup. Flavour is medium sweet, again pronounced SA flavour, light bitterness. Light bodied. On the sweet side but nice enough.

20 March 2019. At BrewDog, Edinburgh Airport. Shared with the lovely Anke! Pours clear golden with a thinning, foamy, white head. Aroma of yellow apple, apricot, lemon zest, yellow grapefruit, green banana, lime, breadcrust, fresh onion, honey. Taste is light fruity sweet, notes of apple, pear & banana, a bit yeasty, almost wort-like; light grassy bitter then, piney, grapefruit, quite bready with sourish lemon zest. Dryish, slightly grassy hoppy finish, grainy, yeasty, lingering unripe fruit. Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. Not bad, trying to be India Style but not quite there.
