Black Tuesday Imperial Stout Aged in Rum Barrels

This variation of Black Tuesday was aged in previously used rum barrels for an extended period of time. Still rich in notes of caramel, toasted malt, vanilla, burnt wood an anise, this variation has additional fruit and spice notes from the rum barrels.

The more of these great rum BA ones I have, the more I realize that so many do it wrong. This is thick, rich, smooth and leathery. Herbal tobacco, very boozy of course and a drop of soy sauce. Clear winner of the night.

Sampled from bottle @ late RBBSG 2018. Dark brown to black color, average sized off-white head. Smell and taste malts, heavy rum BA, sweet, raisins and light caramelised sugars. Heavy. Nice though.

Bottle from the RS. The rum runs real deep, real smooth. The booze of course shows some but not in a slap you in the face way. The barrel adds depth and shows a layer of dark spiced rum through the sip. Probably the best rum barrel aged imperial stout I have ever sampled.

looks like Black tuesday, smells really good. mmmmm. yeah, the cane sugar goes through. makes an already sweet beer more sweet. very tasty, well integrated, not cloying, still showing it's ABV straight through. Decent integration here

Bottle at tasting. Aroma of booze, rum, chocolate, ripe fruit, raisin, figs and molasses. Taste has lots of flavors, with vanilla, red fruit, raisin, dates, caramel fudge, oak, ripe fruit and chocolate. Really long evolving boozy finish. This is fantastic.

Bottle. Pours clear black small beige head, dissipates pretty quickly, good lacing. Aroma is rich and decadent, deep dark chocolate, fruitcake, rummy, vanilla and toffee, cherries, light oak. Flavor is very sweet, diabetus stout to the rescue! Light bitter, and full of dark sugars and tropical island drinks. Medium plus body. Pretty well hidden ABV. This is a fucken dangerous beer. I opened this POS after like 5 IPAs and was a glass into it before I even checked the ABV. Hell. I have kids. What the hell am I going to do tonight. I hope the wife is down for crowd control. Oh fuck it. I poured her a nice big glass as well. She loves BA stouts, and I am not going to tell her the ABV. She will figure it out soon enough. At least I am leaving town for the week on Monday morning. Maybe things will have calmed down by the time I return.
