Bottle. Alesela. Clear, very dark, cola brown. Messy, clingy, tan head. Nose has earthy, dark fruit, blackcurrant hoppage. Tarry malts. Bit of a burnt rubber thing going on. Notes of mouldy orange. Taste is earthy, fruit stone bitter. Big lip stickage. Full body. Earthy, fruity bitter finish. Slightly odd, and lacking hop bitterness, for me. Nothing to make it hard work, though.

Keg at Brewdog Shep bush. Opaque black coloured pour with a steadfast creamy light tsn tan. Fuckin bipa tick bro. Aroma is smooth coffee, vanilla, strawberry, coconut, light roast, pine citrus hop. Flavour is composed of creamy desecrated coconut, creamy smooth Roasty, nitty, pine resin, bit of strawberry. Palate is smooth, creamy, moderate to high carbonation. Creamy. Nice fruity strawberry and pine. Really good black IPA.

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - near as dammit opaque black with a lovely fawn head that hangs around for some time. Nose - pine and lime marmalade against a creamy milk chocolate backdrop. Taste - loads of creamy chocolate gently lifted with the lime marmalade note again Palate - medium bodied at least with a creamy texture through the middle section and a long dry but elegant finish. Seriously complex but so restrained. Overall - beautiful palate, it really is! Truthfully, stylewise, I’d say it possibly lies slightly closer to stout than to IPA but that’s being picky and it certainly is a Black IPA before everything else! It’s delicious! Yes, Craig can definitely brew!

Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to Paul. Almost opaque dark brown beer, good pale tan head. Nice light crispy palate. Thin dark malts, touch of roasty bitterness. Light tang and a whisper of coffee. Thin malt cream. Good piney hops, bitterish. Mild citrus and floral notes underneath. Light finish. Light but tasty and easy drinking CDA. Nice job!

Nose is dank hops, pine, tea leaves, spice, tangy red berries, earthy notes. Taste comprises bitter hops, liqourice, pine, light charr, red berry snap. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a little skunkdom wash. Solid CDA very crushable.
