RBESG Sheffield 2009 Grand Tasting at the Harlequin. Amber brown colour, light off white head. Aroma of caramel, some sweet stuff. Flavour is sweet, malty, caramel, bit of toasted malts. Sweet finish. Light to medium bodied. Not bad, but this is a dunkel at best, not a stout.

Deep brown coloured body with a thinnish tan head. Aroma of light caramel, roasted malt, coffee and a bit of nuts - not bad at all. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong roasty flavour with toffee and a watery nutty flavour. Aftertaste shows a lighter flavour with roasted malt and some cardboard tastes to finish up the flavour. Overall, a pretty decent beer compared to the other typical lagers you get here in South Korea - but compared to other stouts, itβs definitely not up to par. I sampled this 33 cL can purchased at a local 7-11 near the Gubendari Subway stop on Line 5 in Seoul, South Korea on 23-July-2006.

Bottled. Dark brown, almost no head. Papery and shallow, sweet and fruity. Lots of cardboard and some vegetables cover the caramelly malt. Finishes joyless without bitterness.

330ml bottle from Bottleworks; nose of a slight roastiness with a mild diacetyl note; clear brown with a big tan head; flavor is slightly sweet with a very small hop bitterness and a light coffee note. Body very watery. Not much of a stout!

bottle - Pours brown. Itβs not even very dark brown, just brown. Warning! Warning! Stouts should be darker than this beer. It has a light roast malt aroma. Itβs sweet with a mild roast malt flavor and not much else. Light bodied, itβs not a bad flavor, but is well off the mark of a stout. Iβm not sure what they were thinking here.

Bottle, thx to Maria. It pours a dark ruby to brown body with a beige head. Grainy, roasted, coffeeish aroma with toffee and butterscotch. Butterscotch in the flavor too, but here it dominates, with some fruityness and coffee added. Medium body. Sweet, roasted, butterscotch finish. Drinkable, but far from being a good stout. (080412)

Bottle Pours out a BROWN (hello right on the bottle it said BLACK Beer about 5 times???) Well next. This black (brown) beer has a small off white head. Aroma of ligth malt. Tast of light malt and a touch of bitterness along with a touch of sweetness. AH I think I will pass next time.

Dark burgundy-brown. Somewhat oily, cheap coffee nose. Thin...really thin. Hollowed-out flavours of nuts, coffee and molasses...itβs there but itβs a gutted, empty brew.
