Soaring through the air with grace and fury, the Luchador descends. The multi-limbed warrior carries an elegance in the efficient manner with which he dispatches his foes. Plenty of action, style, and glory await you in this Mexican-Style Chocolate Stout. Sweet flavors blossom from additions of vanilla and cinnamon, while a spicy body gets it’s kick from ancho chile powder. Dark malt flavors provide a robust palette upon which one may don the Chocolate Sombrero.

12 ounce bottle. Barely translucent brown color. Small foamy tan head. Roasted malt nose has a touch of cocoa. Flavor is rich and chewy, like a fudge brownie. Notes of cocoa, cinnamon and vanilla bean. Slightly resiny hops in finish. Complex and spicy, though no notes of chili peppers to speak of.

Winter Beer Fest, Philly: Pours black with a tan head. Aroma is chilies, chocolate, roasted malts. Taste is pepper and chocolate and pretzel (yum pretzel). Each flavor is powerful and unapologetic. Quite heavy. Not very sweet. Complex. I liked this quite a bit.

Rich deep dark brown coloured body with a cola coloured glow at the bottom and a thin, single centimetre tall tan head at top. Aroma of oodles of chocolate, nuts, earth, alcohol, prunes, plums, raisins and a touch of light spices. Full-bodied; Super earthy and pungent alcohol warmth at first with a deep pit fruit, nutty and chocolatey flavour right behind, all with a ton of body. Aftertaste shows some deep characteristics with the nuts and earth by far the strongest, but the alcohol, roasted malt and chocolate also comes out very heavy. Overall, a rich and sweet beer with a lot of flavours throughout and a good dose of complexity. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from World Market in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 22-February-2014 for US$8,99 sampled at home here in Washington a few blocks away on 07-October-2014.

9% Shared at my Summer Plunder Tasting by Mick. A lovely dark brown almost black with red highlights and a tan head. Umami, vanilla, chocolate syrup and ancho chilli. Some warming going down this medium bodied beer rocks an earthy chocolate, vanilla and ancho chili heat. This is a very well balanced chocolate beer.
