Soaring through the air with grace and fury, the Luchador descends. The multi-limbed warrior carries an elegance in the efficient manner with which he dispatches his foes. Plenty of action, style, and glory await you in this Mexican-Style Chocolate Stout. Sweet flavors blossom from additions of vanilla and cinnamon, while a spicy body gets it’s kick from ancho chile powder. Dark malt flavors provide a robust palette upon which one may don the Chocolate Sombrero.

22 oz bottle @ ’t Klooster, Delft, shared with Caesar, Judyvv & Joes. Black color. Light brown head. Aroma’s: sweet (milk-) chocolate, some fruit, with some pepper retronasal. Flavor is moderate sweet, chocolate. Medium bodied. Pepper heat is just moderate, fortunately. Finishes, chocolate-y, roasted, light ash, light bitterness.

Tap at Brewdog, Nottingham. Just about black. Silky, tan head. Chocolate. Booze. Dark fruit. Taste is dark chocolate sweet. Some dryness. Light bitterness, too. Surprisingly light palate. Dark, roast dryness on the finish, with a little heat, right in the close. Nice beer.

Keg @ Brewdog, Birmingham. Pours dark / black, roasty aroma, prominent thick chocolate malts in the taste with the booze very much present and accounted for. Enjoyed with a bar of Dairy Milk which actually improved the taste immeasurably.

Very dark brown color. Really nice smooth nose with tons of fudge, dark chocolate, vanilla and cinnamon with a nice pepper bite. Moderately sweet mouth with mole, vanilla, cinnamon and anejo pepper. Very smooth, full body, rich with lots going on, but really well put together. Lovely stuff with tons of dark fudge in the finish. Excellent.

Sampled at Boise’s Imperial Stout get together, over 120 bottles to choose from. Going with the flow on this rating. This one of my contributions to the event.

Opaque dark brown beer, good mid tan head. Palate is crisp and a little dry. Mild fine carbonation. Mild minerals. Powdery chocolate that is somewhere between dark and milk chocolate. Touch of candy fruits. Very mellow coffee cream. Light finish. Pleasant enough but lacks a little depth.

Bottle, thanks to _Angst_, split at Colin and the Vikings tasting, Nol, Goteborg, Sweden 22/03/14. Light black with a moderate tan covering that clears to spotting and edgework. Nose is chocolate, light spice, roasty tones, dark toffee. Taste comprises dark fruits, mineral notes, chocolate, subtle spice, dark toffee fudge, roasty tones, vanilla. Medium bodied, fine carbonation. Not the most complex impy and doesn’t carry a whole lot of depth for close to double digit ABV however it’s a pretty accessible easy drinking number and the alcohol is wll integrated.
