Honey Cream Ale is fermented warm like traditional cream ales but features an added twist--wildflower honey from Oregon. Honey imparts a dry, refreshing character to the beer because it ferments almost completely. The honey comes from a beekeeper in Blodgett, a tiny town 20 miles east of Newport.
Rogues Honey Cream Ale is a light, smooth, medium bodied ale, with a creamy head, hints of honey and a crisp light finish. Brewed with two-row Harrington, Klages and Munich malts and Crystal hops. Discontinued for distribution in late 2005, available on tap only at Rogue Ales Public Houses.

(Bottle 65 cl) Hazy pale amber with a small, off-white head. Very vague aroma that may contain a wee whiff of hops. Very light-bodied with very vague accents of bittering hops but otherwise completely neutral and bland. I do not detect any honey whatsoever. 270106

Golden ale with a thin white head. Nice caramel malt aroma, faint hops. Rather pleasant bready malt, rosewater notes. Very fresh tasting. Light bodied. On tap at Rogue Ales Public House, SF, August 2005.

A hazy orange beer with a lazing thin beige head. The aroma is slightly acidic with notes of grapefruit and toffee. The flavor contains notes of oranges, straw, and hints of honey - quite boring until the dry bitter hoppy aftertaste sets in.

12 oz bottle from 2004. Good pour; lots of sediment and a thick honey-like yellow, with light orange and gold tints. Large, creamy, off-white head, plenty of lacing. Smells slightly sharp and citric, like grapefruit rinds mixed with honey. Dosent seem to go too well together in the nose. Flavor starts out with a honey-almond flavor but is broken up by the citrus bitterness. It’s not horribly overpowering, but I’m not a huge fan of citric hops flavor in a cream ale. Malting is light, with a definite wateriness on the end. As it warms, more buttery, sweet, creaminess emerges and attempts to regain control of the beer. The citrus flavor abates somewhat on the end, leaving a more floral/herbal flavor, which works better with the malt sweetness here. Notes of yeast provide some interesting complexity in this, as well. A great beer, but I’m somewhat spoiled by the fresh cream ale at Portsmouth, which I feel is outstanding.

Lightly hazy orange body, medium off-white head. Buttered toast aroma with floral hints. Flavor is very much like the Oregon Golden Ale I recently sampled, with largely the same malts (buttered toast, burnt caramel) and different hops (imparting a spicy, floral, and lightly piney finish). Honey by suggestion but it isn’t really pronounced. Another solid Rogue beer.

Clear medium amber. Head exited stage left in a hurry, but a nice little lingering film is hanging on. Aroma is faint and subtle. Nothing really comes through. Malty, grain, easy on the hops. Taste is a bit bland, boring but not unpleasant. Finish is not too bitter, fairly smooth. Unremarkable. Too many better ones avalible in this style.
