Bottled and on tap. Dark brown color with small beige head. Aroma malt with fruit. Taste, roasted grain, malt, hints of caramel. Forgettable beer.

17 oz bottle from Barvarianpurity, thanks Andre! Nice dark beer pour. Smell is a little mustry and leather but certainly palatable. Choco malt olfactory in the back ground. Thin if any head but the second pour yields a rock half inch head. Color of head is dirty tan. Toffee and laid back with hardley any and barely roastiness. Mild alky thru-out. Dull back of throat effects. Some decent carbonation in there. A fun and mild choco beer with a tad of mulling personality.

Much better than I expected. Aromas of raisins and dried fruit. Lots of sweet malt, but not so much as to make it hard to drink. Sour in the finish. Very easy to drink.

Dark brown in colour with a dense light brown head. Looks a bit like Coca-Cola with a nice head. Aroma of caramel, malt, cherries, figs and chocolate. Medium-bodied; Sweet raisin flavour with an odd fig and metallic twang later on. Aftertaste fairly one-dimensional and bland, just offering some malt. Overall, a decent beer, nothing special, and pretty far off from the Schwarzbier concept! I bought this 500 mL bottle (named "Topvar Dark") from Beers of the World in Rochester, New York and sampled it on 14-December-2003.

Black lager. Smoky and coffeeish, with a fairly full body and depth of malt flavour.
