Traditional Ginger Honey Ale is an authentic brew that can be traced back to the ginger brews of the late 1700s. In fact, records show that Thomas Jefferson and his wife brewed 15 gallons of ginger beer with fresh lemons and honey every two weeks for daily consumption. Following that tradition, Samuel Adams Traditional Ginger Honey Ale is a highly effervescent beer that is brewed with authentic ingredients from the colonial era, such as fresh ginger puree, lemon peel and wildflower honey. Pale golden in color, the brew has a subtle maltiness with a floral, sweet honey finish. The sweetness of the Traditional Ginger Honey Ale is the perfect partner for sweet and spicy foods alike. We recommend pairing it with a glazed honey ham, Chinese spareribs, or baklava.

Part of the Brewer/Patriot semiquincentennial mix pack. Surprisingly drinkable compared to that godawful hard root beer, offering up a moderate ginger spiciness and a subtly sweet honey streak on the back end. Kind of mild overall but much preferable to an average light beer.

Bottle split at RB Best Encomium share, Santa Rosa, 30/01/16 - Many Thanks ! Hazed golden orange with a moderate off white covering. Nose is orange peel, ginger, wood must, light spice. Taste comprises toasted grains, honey, floral notes, musty, light spice, oxidised trace. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying close. Pretty much as I'd expected ... aging probably hasn't done too much damage!

Poured from 12oz bottle a hazy light gold with a large head of foam that dissipated slowly leaving about a 1/4" layer for the entire session.

The smell has a pungent nose to it along with some earthiness.

The taste has a honey sweet flavour mixed with a ginger tartness that is *definitely* different...for me, it's a bit *too* different from what I expect in a beer. I'm not going to slam Sam Adams for coming out with this traditional brew, I'll just say that in this case, it's not for me.

Bottled. Muddy pale amber, brief head, lots of sediment. Light ginger aroma. Fairly sweet with rounded, oily mouthfeel. Besides the ginger and honey there is not a whole lot going on. Finishes with low bitterness and a slight ginger burn.

12 fl oz. Bottle. Pours hazy yellow to orange with little off-white head. Ginger and slight citric nose. Citric and ginger flavoured, mellow. Same in the finish. Nice but has no lasting finish.
