This stout poured a deep black colour with a creamy tan coloured head. Minimal lacing. Scents include cocoa, wieners, light coffee and a little burnt toast. First swig was quite smooth but a tad bit watery. Flavours of cocoa and coffee are most prominent. Finish is lightly sweet with cocoa flavours lingering. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 ounce bottle into pint glass; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy tan head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, fudge, vanilla, cream, brown bread, light coffee/nuttiness, and herbal/roasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, cocoa/lactose, and light earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, fudge, vanilla, cream, brown bread, light coffee/nuttiness, and herbal/roasted earthiness. Light herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, fudge, vanilla, cream, brown bread, light coffee/nuttiness, and herbal/roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, cocoa/lactose, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy, and lightly silky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.8%. Overall this is a very good chocolate cream stout! All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, cocoa/lactose, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth, flavorful, and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Shared bottle, pint glass. Blackish, dark brown. Dry bitter cocoa taste. Lacks smoothness of a milk or sweet stout. Not sure what they were going for but they missed.

12 oz bottle. Pours deep brown with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate, molasses, a bit of smoke. Thin smoky flavor at first, followed up with light molasses, cocoa, roast, at times a bit of red grape. Just generally very thin.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a thinnish tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, oatmeal, a touch of light chocolate, caramel, toffee and a touch of vanilla. Medium-bodied; Assertive chocolate flavours in the initial taste with a dose of vanilla and caster sugar with a little earthy malt notes, some light cream and lactic flavours and a dry oakyness on the finish. Aftertaste shows more chocolate than anything else and a little bit of roasted malt pungency. Overall, a nice sweet stout that shows a moderate level of complexity and a good reminder of the Sanders chocolate fudge that goes atop some good Michigan Ice Cream. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 28-April-2011 for US$1.99 sampled at home in Washington on 22-September-2011.

Bottle. Deep nearly opaque garnet red-brown body, thick tight light brown head. Woody nose with roasted malts, dark chocolate, and hints of butterscotch; chalky. Dry body with woody acidity, featuring dark chocolate and light licorice notes, with a biting finish. Not very good.
