Beer #3 in the endless series of limited edition artist and artisan beers. Gigantic and Three Floyds unleash this true weapon of mass distraction. Citrus and tropical hoppyness lead to fill malt flavour from proper English malt, kilned over Welsh coal. Brewed for those of us that live and die in the Timbers Army and Section 8.

Kind of an all-around okay pale, surprisingly tame considering its pedigree. English malts offer up their usual fruits and nuts, some apple, some black tea undertones, offset by a lemon-orange hop middle in dire need of some oomph. Estery as all hell, and the finish grows sweet, a mild floral hoppiness giving way to bready Brit ale notes. Appearance is orange-gold with a meager head and minuscule lacing, and the watery texture only adds to the overall English meh-ness. Expected more.

Draft pour pint at Malt and Vine. Nice to see this Collab still going strong after all the years. Didn’t even know of it before today. And I call myself a beer nerd.. Psh. Glad it’s here, always a pleasure to try something unique like this. An unexpected, yet appropriate collaboration. Golden orange pour with a thick foam head. Balanced aroma of earthy malt and hops. Earthy constant, smooth, with a below but constant bitterness. Drinks easy. Bitter, but not too bitter that it takes away from the overall drinking pleasure. Solid offering here.

650ml bottle. Pours a hazy copper with a medium, frothy, long lasting, off-white head that leaves plenty of lace. Sweet aroma of pale malt, orange, grapefruit, tropical fruit and floral. Sweet flavour of pale malt, caramel, orange, grapefruit, papaya and mango with a dry, mildly bitter finish. Light to medium body with a creamy, smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Tasty, an excellent EPA.

Copper, with a thin head. Messy. Touch of plastic. Diacetyl and stickiness. Vaguely earthy hops. I don’t think I understand what they’re trying to do here.

Bottle from John’s. Pours a clear amber color with a medium white head. A big toast and fruity nose. Soft, citrus, biscuit, soft perfume, bready. Very smooth. Very much a British beer. Quite nice. Lively.

Super hazy light copper coloured body with a muddy orange and bronze glow and a nice, one centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of earthy english hops, nuts, caramel, raisins, herbal and grassy hops and a hint of light fruits - very nice and strong and plenty of hops. Medium-bodied; Assertive effervescence; Strong malt notes up front with a toasty finish, some apple and pear flavours along with a good light hop note and some pineapple and passionfruit flavours as well. Aftertaste shows a decent complexity with some grassy hops at first, a good malt backbone and a little sweetness at the end from fruits. Overall, a nice and robust beer with plenty of complexity and a good solid malt backbone with some nice hop notes on top. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Brown Jug in Anchorage (Northern Lights Blvd), Alaska on 26-May-2013 for US$5.99 sampled at home in Washington on 25-June-2013.

Bottle - Orange, grapefruit and sweet hops. Clear amber with a rich head. A sweet grapefruit, maybe more like a pomelo. Lots of citrus with only a mild bitterness. Very refreshing , but so much grapefruit flavour that it is a little distracting.

Good, but not great IPA. Pours a cloudy, golden yellow with minimal head. Strong citrus aroma, with a combination of citrus flavors and hop bite. Fairly smooth finish. While I certainly enjoyed it, I guess I was expecting something more--something of a disappointment, really.
