Traditionally craft brewed in Oxfordshire using organically grown English Barley Malt and Organic Target Hops.
Scarecrow is a wonderfully refreshing Golden Ale evoking lazy, hazy days of summer in golden meadows & ripe barleyfields. A winning combination of tart citric fruit flavours perfectly balanced by a rich biscuity maltiness and rounded off with a spicy bittersweet finish.

Flaske fra Meny/Helgø. Litt uklart, men fint skum. Behagelig aroma og fint balansert smak selv om den er litt for søt for en pale ale. "Golden pale ale" er kanskje en pale ale for nybegynnere? I klubbhuset med Willy: lite aroma (for kald?) men behagelig balanse sødme/bitterhet, og med en tørr avslutning. Helt ok butikkøl.

50cl bottle from Meny. Pours slightly hazy golden/orange with a white head. Aroma of malt and some hops with some fruity notes too. Light to medium sweet with some bitterness in the finish. Some hints of fruit an spices in the finish and a hint of citrus in the aftertaste. Better than indust lager, but still not a great beer. Ok ale and a bit refreshing.

500 mL bottle, Scarecrow label, from Whole Foods Market, Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear golden color with a large frothy white head. Average head retention. Aroma of herbal hops and toasted malts with a sweet finish. The taste is pale malts, a bit of graininess and apple with an herbal hop finish. Slight bitterness. Medium bodied. Solid beer.

(bottle) Clear golden with decent white head. Aroma is grassy hops. Light body, rather fizzy. Flavour has a light malty start followed with plenty of hops which are grassy and slightly metallic, only imparting modest bitterness. Overall fairly pleasant but perhaps a little one dimensional.

(bottle, as Scarecrow Organic Golden Pale Ale, 4.7% abv) Hazy, golden to light-amber colour with a medium-sized and slightly off-white foamy head. Slightly biscuity (cara-)malty aroma with notes of fruity, mainly citric hops. Slightly sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Biscuity malt-character with a tinge of caramel and drying and fruity hops towards the moderately bitter finish. Likeable, but not world-shaking. 09.III.12

First beer of another random tasting evening: brown 500ml bottle best before 30 Apr 2011, drank and reviewed 31 Jan 2011. Poured into an ’Abbot Ale’ pint tankard. Chilled, as asked for on the rear label. Looked fine, a good foaming white head sat on top of a bright golden/light amber body of clear beer. Hop aroma, without being over the top, fruity and floral smells, not the citrusy, resiny hop smell produced by some aromatic hops. Refreshing and sharp taste, good hop and malt mix, malts up front with a hop bitterness just under the surface waiting to be unleashed as the mouth dries. Well balanced brew, nothing too strong, different, interesting or overpoweringly brilliant, but a good steady beer in my eyes.

50cl bottle. Golden colour with a frothy, large and mostly diminishing white head. Aroma has malty notes and moderate hoppy. Flavour has honey hints, malty, slightly bittery with a short and dry final. Carbonation is medium. Body is medium.
