A baby Scotch ale with dry and toasty malt flavours and hints of smoke. Toffee, biscuit and fudge abound with a spicy bitterness from the pan-global hops.

Bottle as Santa Paws. Dark brown, seems clear. Caramel and brown sugar aroma. Flavour has caramel, nuts, a little spice, notes of licorice and some sourish notes. Watery and disappointing.

Pint at Brother’s Beer Bistro a year ago under the name Santa Paws 4.5%. Almost black colour with light red highlights, a beige creamy head and lacing. Beautiful aromas of chocolate and sugars. Nice sweetness and roasted malts. Roasted malt taste with a little fruitiness and mild burnt malt aftertaste. A little tart in the mouthfeel. Very, very nice for a 4.5% ABV. beer. A great dark session ale.

Bottled, from Systembolaget (as Santa Paws). Clear chocolate brown, small head. Caramelly nose. Sweetish with light body and clean, hard mouthfeel. Metallic caramel. Low bitterness. Primitive and edgy pseudo craft stuff.

Dark brown color. White head. Rich nose of toffee, caramel and coffee very malty with some brandy and dark fruit notes in there. Light body with coffee, tobacco leaves, port, chocolate and butterscotch. Very malty body with little noticeable hop character. Clean light finish. This is the Santa Paws from last Christmas and it is well past its expiry date, but this is fantastic little beer. Very underrated. Excellent Scotch Ale (not a brown ale in the least and I surprised these beers are aliased if Dogma is a brown ale). Fantastic little beer.
