At BrewDog we're pretty excited about everything to do with making new beers. So excited that we decided each of our bars should get the opportunity to come up to the brewery and make a beer of their own. From recipe development through to getting knee deep in malts as they dig out the mash tun, this is the beginning of a new BrewDog story; the story of our bar brews.
The beers are named according to the bar they originated from and the bars opening order. The bar beer names are:

On tap @ Patricks. Pitch black body with a small but stable off-white head. Aroma has dark malt, coffee, dry fruit, pine and hint of dark chocolate. Flavor has all the same ingredients as found in aroma, but still feels refreshing and not too sweet. Fine balanced body and decent aftertaste. A bit unusually as a Swartzbier, could maybe be described as a black IPA with low bitterness. Anyway, I like surprises and enjoyed at as it is.

On tap at Patrick’s. It pours a clear brown body and a small beige head. Roasted, nutty aroma with a fruit sour touch and some raisins. Dark chocolate too, especially in the flavor. Full body, dry and with a soft carbonation. Roasted malts, dried fruits, some fruity notes and cocoa towards the end. Quite pleasant this one, although unusual. Like it though. 140927

(Draught at BrewDog Stockholm, 7 March 2014) Dark brown colour with frothy, brown head. Roasted, malty nose with dark bread, roasted malt and a touch of raisins. Malty, roasted taste with notes of dark bread, chocolate, coffee and a balanced bitterness in the finish. Medium body, quite dry. Fairly uncomplicated, but quite tasty. Quite nice.

Keg at BD Camden, 28th January. It pours opaque black with a medium tan head. The nose is light roast, toast, liquorice, salted caramel, treacle and berry. The taste is smooth, roasted malt, toast, tart cherry skin, red grape, raspberry, light caramel, liquorice and cocoa with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. The tart berry component is rather nice. Great balance and high drinkability.
