’08 bottle pours deep dark brown, off-white head. aroma, grassy hops mixed with amazing malty/caramel notes flavor, attenuated citrus hops, roasted malts, mild spices, caramel, as beer warms up, gains nice dark fruits notes. Overall profile keeps a stronger malt approach while offering a mild hop bitterness addition.

Location: 22 oz bottle from WF - Bowery, 1/16/11
Overall Impression: I still absolutely love this stuff. My rating doesn't really need to change at all here, but about a year after the last time I rated this one it remains incredibly good in my opinion. (Gush-fest over...)
Location: On tap at the Brewery, 1/8/10
Overall Impression: Got another chance to try this one, this time on draft, when I visited the brewery. Man this stuff is good! I bumped it up (just a touch from 4.4 to 4.5).
Location: 22 oz bottle from jcos's trip to Rozi's Wine and Liquor House, 12/5/09
Aroma: A nose of citrus hops, resin, caramel, pine
Appearance: Cloudy dark red color with a lasting tan head
Flavor: Taste is nicely hoppy, with just enough malts for balance
Palate: Smooth and medium-full bodied, easy drinking brew
Overall Impression: Overall this is a really good solid Imperial Red Ale, a style I almost always seem to enjoy. I like this one quite a bit, nicely done. Reminded me a bit of the Stone 13 in style. Anyway, quite a nice beer. I'm glad I got to try this one as I liked it a lot and it is not available in my area. Thanks, Justin!

2nd May 2009. Amber beer, hops dominate. A little malt at the start is quickly overpowered by smooth hops. Just a little bitterness. Overall a smooth hoppy beer just about held together by the malt base.
