Again, the basic old and young lambic are matured in oak casks. But here we add to one year-old lambic about 400 grams of real cherries per litre. This creates a second fermentation in the casks. Oude Kriek Boon then undergoes a further fermentation in the bottle and has an alcohol volume of 6.5%. After several months, the flavour has matured to the desired taste.
Oude Kriek Boon is a test of your patience. It should lie about 2 years in the bottle. At first, it tastes of fruit, especially sour cherries. Oude Kriek Boon eventually evolves into a deep taste reminiscent of Port or Madeira wine. This is kriek at its best.

bottle @ bierhuyske pours dark red, good pink foam smel is fresh cherries full mouthfeel . nice balance of cherries, not too intense, not too little . just right . second lambicbeer by boon. ( i think i almost had them all now) i actualy like. coincidently both cherrybeers ??? full boddie, sugary mouthfeel ( way less than the hanssens i had 2 days before though) . better than expected, even better than several others in the style, while i usualy like boon the least ...

En riktigt god smakupplevelse. Smak av körsbär, jäst, vinäger, jord med toner av trä och gräs. Frisk men inte så syrlig och torr som jag trott. Välbalanserad med lagom sötma. Har nu (2018) smakat två flaskor till, en från 2012 och en från 2016. En fantastisk öl som åldras med värdighet. Betyget kvarstår kan dessutom blir lite bättre 4,2p.

Flaska från SB. Som stark svartvinbärsaft till färg inkl rosa skum. Tydlig geuze doft där körsbärsdoft bara märks som ett subtilt tillägg av bigarofruktighet och kärnarom. Viss saftsötma, rejäl syra och sedan en växande körsbärsmak som är frisk och syrlig för att till sist land i en rundare lite jordig kärnsmak. Rena smaker, liten oxidation. Nära perfektion.

Deilig kirsebærfarga skum. Frisk fruktig lukt med preg av friske kirsebær, syregras, rabarbra, bærskal, litt tre. Frisk lett konsentrert og syrlig smak med preg av sure kirsebær, eplecidereddik, bærskal, litt tre, syregras, litt bruspulver. Middels bitterhet som set litt. God.

Bottle. Hazy deep red liquid with big pink head. Aroma of lemons, stone fruit, apples, minerals, light funk and cherries. Taste is dry and light to medium sour with notes of cherries and apples. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Nice, but I’d like it even more sour.

Bottle at home in London with Lyoli. Vintage 2011. Picked up at Dranken Geers. Pours deep purple-red with a big, thick, purple foam head. Rich, ripe cherries in the nose, hints of funky tang and bitter pits. Light to medium sweet flavor, pretty rich, good sour bite, light sweat, rich and fairly sugary cherries. Light to medium bodied with lively carbonation. Good sour cherries in the finish, fruity sugar sweetness, cutting tang, very light cherry skin and pit. Great stuff overall. I wouldn’t mind trying this a year or two older to see if it gets a bit more bracingly sour and a touch less sugary. Still, wonderful and very drinkable.

Bottle. Pours a perple color with a big, fast dissapearing, pink head. Heavy notes of powdersugar in the aroma. Also notes of berry seeds and, of course, cherry. Deep cherry notes in taste. Frutier than sour and bitter. Not as sweet as the aroma.
