My take on a porter with a reinforced hop character: 50 IBU for only 5.2-5.5% ABV. Almost the hop charge of an IPA, but with a solid dark, roast malt backbone, Brewed once or twice a year.

It is a decent beer. To be a brown ale, I could notice that the hop is the king and we are on one IPA, some roasted malt, dry, good job. 24.08.2017, drinking it at Bonfol, buying it at the ex grain d'Orges, Crissier

Bottle sampled at Festival der Bierkulturen, Koln. Pours hazy brown with a thick off white head. Aroma ofbran flakes, malt, caramel and bread. Flavour is moderate sweet and over moderate bitter. Grassy hops coming out in the palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle, 6%. Fruity and farty aroma., hint of refreshing hop. Hazy brown colour. Small tan head. The flavour is rather bitter to begin with. Then comes a fruity note, and surprisingly a sort of bacterial acidity. A clean acidity, though.

Bottle from Embrouille - thank you! Pours clear darkish amber with stable off-white head. Clear aroma of malt and caramel, with fruity notes. Bitter, hoppy flavour, with notes of citrus and a touch of grass. Mildly bitter finish. Rather unbalanced but definitely enjoyable.

330ml bottle. Clear brown colour with average, frothy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Minimally sourish, malty and fruity aroma with hints of cherries and grapes. Taste is moderately sweet malty, fruity, a touch of cherries and grapes, herbal hop notes, a dry touch of fruit parings, hints of roast; lasting dry finish. Slightly stray from what I think to be a typical Black IPA.

330mL bottle, pours an amber-tinged dark brown with a humungous foaming off-white head (seems the bottle was disturbed). Aroma of toasted nuts, a little roast, citrus hops, and some rather unpleasant burnt rubbery notes. Flavour of burnt roasted malts, toasted nuts, harsh citrus hops, and leather / rubber. Finishes on an astringent note of harsh hops and again with the leather. Carbonation is absurdly high, destroying the mouthfeel, not that the flavours were that great to start with. Not too impressive.

330 ml bottle. Pours a dark mahogany with huge head. Aromas of lightly roasted malts, fresh plums, and yeast. Flavors of golden raisins, light brown sugar, and toasted malts. Bitter mid to finish. Tasty for a relatively light ABV.

Thanks to Boutip for the bottle.. Smells hoppy, a little musky. Pours brown like the label promises. There’s some roast malt here and a little floral hoppiness. Good carbonation, some lacing, some head. Decent.
