Lurcher Stout is rich smooth stout, a roasty dark ale with mature blackcurrant in the aroma and fruity, hoppy bitterness in the taste quickly giving way to a long, sweetish aftertaste.

Cask at the 2015 National Winter Ales Festival, The Roundhouse, Derby. Reddish brown pour with a beige head. Red fruit and raisin aroma. Caramel malt and red fruit flavour.

Bottle at home. Pours deep brown, nose is toffee, coffee, chocolate, taste is similar, light liquorice.

Cask at The Guildford Arms. Pours dark brown, cracked beige head. Aromas of light coffee, light toffee. Taste is more of the same, touch of liquorice. Clean finish. OK.

Cask at Red Lion, Cromer, Norfolk. Dark, chestnut brown. Broken, thin, tan head. Aroma is dark malt, dark, ripe fruit. Some roast coffee. Some cocoa. Taste is dry, dark, fruity. Smooth palate. Dry, lightly tangy finish.

Cask gravity at Wandsworth Halloween Fest 2013. It pours darkest brown, near black with a medium beige head. The nose is roasty, dark fruit, berry, jam, sweet liquorice and cocoa. The taste is smooth, roast, toast, earth, cocoa, light bitterness, mild acidity, coffee grinds with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Smooth, tasty and easy-drinking. Rather good.

Cask at Ealing beer festival 2013, London. A black coloured pour with a medium beige head on top. Sweet chocolate, coffee aroma. Tastes similar, coffee, chocolate, slightly roasty, slightly sweet. Very nice stout.

Draft. Black color, bright tan head, solid lacing. Aroma of subtle riast. Taste is burnt embers, charcoal, burnt espresso. Lots of flavor for a "low" (by colonist standards) alcohol beer.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 7/5/2013. Near black with a hint of red and slight, off-white head. decent coffee notes, slabs of plan chocolate, some fruity hops and dryish finish. Very enjoyable.
