Ebony, beige head. Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate and fine cigars. Well-balanced and complex taste. Liquorice.

Bottle with Jeevan. Totally different beer... Cleaned up all the earthy flavours, more chocolate. Rich sweet finish. Up to a straight 4. Bottle at home. Pours clear dark brown, thin beige head. Earthy aromas, soy sauce and chocolate. Taste has a light sweetness and more earthiness. Cleansing bitterness. Something not quite right about it, which I hope clears up with aging. Will revisit. 3.4

Draft at Pigs Ear Beer Festival 2013 - London. Pours clear brown with a creamy tan head. The nose holds cocoa and soft roast. Light to medium sweet flavor with milk chocolate, subtle earthy bitterness, hints of alcohol. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Mellow warmth in the finish with more sugary chocolate light lightly bittersweet baking cocoa. Decent stuff. Glad I got to try it on tap and didn’t have to pay upwards of 20 quid for the bottle. For the record, I do not think this beer will age well.

Gravity dispense at Pigs Ear ’13. thanks to Niall for the split, 03/12/13. Just ever so slightly off black with a good sized frothy tan head. Nose is light roast, dark toffee, earthy, cocoa nibs. Taste comprises rich dark fruits, liqourice, treacle toffee, light booze, rich chocolate. Medium bodied with bite, soft carbonation, dry finale. Decent stuff indeed ! Reading the write up above is rather exhausting - some kind of excuse to charge £18 a bottle - the more words we write, clearly the more exclusive the beer is !?!?

Pigs Ear. The Round Church, Hackney. Cask. Opaque black - brown beer with a small pale cream coloured head. Light palate, semi dry with mild fine carbonation. Nice porter! Rich chocolatey malt, vibrant dark fruits and a whisper of coffee. Finishes light and dry. Very tasty. But if this can be sold at a reasonable price at a fest, why are the bottles so damn expensive?
