Like a fine Brut Champagne, this IPA is brilliantly bubbly, refreshingly crisp and stunningly clear. Designed for a more sophisticated IPA drinker, Civilized Brut has a clean and restrained bitterness. The clarity and malt sweetness allow the hop notes to tantalize your senses in a bold yet never-overpowering way. Nothing savage about this brute – this IPA is unconventionally sophisticated.

Crystal clear golden coloured body with a good deal of effervescence rising from the bottom and showing a very nice, three to four centimetre tall pure white, soapy head that stays afloat and gets fairly ugly. Aroma of grass, citrus, hay and a light dash of sweeter fruits with some apricots and peaches noticeable - but fairly dry in the nose. Light-bodied; Strong dry and floral notes show at first with grass, hay and a very mild sweetness from the grapefruit and citrus that has a little malt noticeable and some alcohol that really shows at the end. Aftertaste is very dry, incredibly floral with chamomile and light spices coming through, all ending with some subdued malts, a heavy hand of hay and grass that end with a touch of lemon and grapefruit zest. Overall, a good beer for the style - effervescent, dry, clear and very crisp, all with good robust flavours! Great to try from Michigan and well worth finding, especially if you like the style! I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Giant Food in Falls Church, Virginia on 13-January-2020 for US$1,99 sampled at my house here in Washington on 21-April-2020.

Rated last year - Mostly clear yellow-gold pour. It smells of hops with citrus and resin. The flavor is similar with crisp hops and a dry mouthfeel and finish. It's alright though not my favorite. That's probably a style preference more than anything.

From a can, Slightly hazy deep golden orange. Full coarse white head. Light and dry and quite bitter. Plenty of IBUs but also dry sharp pithiness. Fairly bitter trailer

12oz can. Foamy white head on top of a filtered looking tan body. Pretty solid for the style. Citrus, bubblegum, grape tone. Clean and eaten up body. Good.

I don't know...good version of an IPA fad I'm happy to have seen fade away. Bright, crisp citrus notes, a hint of grainy sweetness, and a long, bitter, pine-mineral finish with a lingering hop bite. Not as interesting as it wants to be, but this seems to be the case with most Brut IPAs. Still pretty drinkable.

On tap. Pours a clear yellow gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a dry citrus with a bit of pineapple and some light sweet grains backing. Flavor has the same dry citrus with a bit of a pineapple bit and some sweet grains underlying.

Citrus, some light lime. Pours golden with good head and lacing. One of the better brut IPAs I've had. Tangy end. Can.

Tangerine/grapefruit peel and biscuit malt aroma. Golden yellow with moderate white head. Moderately sweet citrus, biscuit malt, and moderately bitter dry grapefruit peel/pine flavor. Good body and balance. Nice.

Cans sent by Founders for comment. Some fruity hop notes when I pop the can, rather than the usual pine resin. Pours a golden color under a thick slightly tan head. Very dry as expected, which allows a sharp bitterness with minimal hops. Now I pick up a bit more pine in the palate. And almost a strawberry note, too. Pretty good.

Can. Unclear golden color with white head. Aroma is resinous, white sugar. Taste is palen malts, resinous, a bit herbal, dry finish. Oily mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Nothing Brut about this, just a dry old school IPA. Nice!
