Brewed with a large addition of flaked and malted oats, Cookie Jar is a rich chewy oatmeal stout brewed with a variety of specialty malts and conditioned on cocoa nibs, vanilla, and finished with a touch of sea salt. Loads of dutch cocoa, caramel and milk chocolate notes that lead into a luscious malty finish with a touch of salinity.

473ml can. Pours an opaque black with a medium, foamy, short lived, tan head that laces. Semi-sweet aroma of roasted malt, oats, cocoa, coffee, earth and vanilla. Semi-sweet flavour of roasted malt, dark chocolate, caramel, faint salt and bitter coffee in a dry, metallic finish. Light to medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Not bad, but still a miss for me. A bit thin for the style and I'm not getting any fudge or even cookie notes.

Dark brownish body, decent enough beige foam. Certainly nice sweet barley and dark cookie notes on the nose. Flavour is much of the same, more sweet barley and cookie. Mouthfeel is a little thin. Straight ahead, drinkable, but so much more could be done.

On tap. Pours black with short foamy tan head. Aromas of chocolate, and roasted malts. Flavors of Oreos: dry powdery chocolate and icing sugar; with additional dry bitter roasted malts. Seems a mix of a dry Irish with a sweet chocolate stout, but not in harmony. Not offensive though...

Can: Poured a black color ale with a large light brown foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with light chocolate and some caramel syrup notes. Taste is also a weird mix of caramel syrup, gross residual sugar notes with some subtle salt notes with a dry roasted malt finish. Body is light with good carbonation. Seemed like a good idea but the taste isn’t great.

16oz shared with Andrey. Appearance: almost black with a weak tan head. Aroma: roasted malt, some grassy notes similar to Str8 Flexing. Taste: along the same lines, not really sure where are cookies, maybe somewhere on the back of the roasted malt? Overall: light version of the Str8 Flexing, ok.

Dark brown, but it looks flat. No head at all and kind of oily. Aroma has roast, oatmeal and a touch of fruitiness. Body is moderate. Flavours are muted...oats are there, some toffee/toast. Bitterness is too low and cookie character too light.

473mL can, pours jet black with a small brown head. Aroma brings out rich dark chocolate, a touch of vanilla, and a hint of the salt. Flavour is quite salty upfront, transitioning to the cocoa nibs, and bringing out light vanilla and some metallic notes. Not without flaws (like the slightly metallic character and perhaps extraneous salt), but this is quite tasty.

Dark roast chocolate. Jet black with a decent beige head. Dark chocolate, bitterness and a nice salty finish. Fun.
