0.33 l bottle from βBierwinkelβ (Gent), best before March 2018, MJ500 #100. Clear, very dark red with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish, minimally sourish, moderately fruity aroma of caramel, red wine, vinegar and cherries. Sweetish, minimally sourish, a bit fruity taste of caramel, cherries as well as slightly hints of vinegar, oak and some red wine, followed by a short, just slightly bitter, minimally sourish finish. Thin to medium body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Okay, bottle might not have been in the best condition.

Entry oud bruin. Easy-going blend but could do with more abv.

Reviews based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 23C). Bottle 33 cl - Batch 0717A165. AROMA: moderate low malt toasty aroma with notes of cask, dried grapes, slight vinous and a balanced sweet and slight sour aroma. some caramel starts to show as the beer warms. no hop aroma discernible. APPEARANCE: dark brown color with ruby body against light. medium-large light tanned head, creamy, with good retention. clear. TASTE: similar to aroma with notes of slight sweet malt with a lisght sour background. moderate-low notes of toasty, some caramel, dark raisins. low bitterness but with a sweet-and-sour balance. finishes medium-dry. some cask notes are sensed with a mild vinous character, remembering a bit of oxidation. PALATE: medium low body with moderate carbonation. OVERALL: an oud bruin with notes that are consistent with the style, showcasing malt but balanced. Some notes derived drom aging. Its nice but it would imprive with mode esters.

Clear deep ruby brown colour, fine two finger frothy beige head, good retention, fair lacing. Fruity aroma, cherries, light vinegar, woody notes, hint of cinnamon. Taste medium sweet and sourish, fruity, light toffee, with average duration, mild sour finish, woody notes, bit watery. Medium body, watery to sticky texture, soft carbonation, quite mild for an Oud Bruin, a bit too mild and watery for my taste.

Pours a rich dark brown from a bottle. Very light funky sourness, mostly fruity maltiness. Good beer.

Bottle (from Koht). Pours dark ruby with beige head. The head stays for a second. Aroma is acidic, fruits, sour cherries, citrus with medicinal notes. Flavor is sour and sweet, less sour than nose would suggest, fruits, caramel, malt. Finish is short sour and sweet with slight metallic notes. Overall: ok.

Oud Bruin. Lots of dry old wood, hints of grapes, prune, roasted malts. Very light sour over a faint brown sugar backbone, outcome in the middle is a bit blank, leaning towards cardboard, but not like some other unfortunate brews. Creamy fizzy old timey.
