2016 catch up - bottle at home - What I would describe as an "showcase" beer; one that is so well made that it is almost perfect. However, for some reason it didn’t really do it for me. There was a lot of malt and the alcohol was very forward, but it resulted in a very good mouthfeel. It was tasty too, with a good bittering of hops that offset a sweetness. Maybe I was just having a bad day.......

Bottle at February THT. Slight hazy darker golden with small off white head. Sweet tropical fruits, good sugary malts, light grain husks, apricot, quite some grass and herbs towards the finish. Medium sweet and bitter. Bit over medium bodied.

Bottle at home, 13/11/16. Clear golden with a decent off white head. Nose is sweet malt, toffee, sugar, fruit esters, light plastic notes. Taste comprises caramel, cane sugar, straw, bready notes, vanilla, fruit loaf, grains. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, sweet licks in a clooe combined with a tickle of alcohol. So so for style, fails to deliver any real depth given the 7% ABV.

Bought at the brewery: 330ml bottle conditioned, Lot 774, BBE 04.2016. Poured into a La Chouffe stemmed tulip at home 10th Jan 15 during a ’random beer tasting afternoon’ with myself. Lovely pour, amber and clear, the head a proud billowing soft pillow of white foam. Plenty of carbonation bubble trails rising through the body. Fruity and malty aroma, the taste follows in the same vain. Biscuity maltiness and red fruits vie for pole position in the mouth with a good mini-bite to the flavours. This is a fine, well made beer, the alcohol content does show it’s strenght, but the flavours and body depth carry it well. A delight to drink.

Bottle. Eebria. Clear amber. Thick, bubbly, sticky, white head. Thick, syrupy, fruity aroma. Some Amaretti booziness. Taste is pretty dry. Palate manages to be slick, but thin. Finishes dry and bitter. Not my cup of tea.
