Bax Bier Koud Vuur is een Porter met een rokerig karakter. De rooksmaak wordt veroorzaakt door het gebruik van gerookte en gebrande moutsoorten. Het is een donker, karatervol bier, waar je echt even voor moet gaan zitten. Koud Vuur won een Gouden Medaille tijdens de Brussels Beer Challenge 2015.

Clear deep ruby brown colour, good two finger tan head, half-way lasting, light lacing. Mild aroma, roasted malts, smoke, smoked ham, coffee. Smooth taste, medium sweet and light bitter, malty, roasty, smoky, light smoked ham, light coffee. Roasty mild sweetbitter aftertaste, dark chocolate. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Surpisingly rich and multi-faceted porter, excellent.

(Thx!) Sampled draft @ Delirium Hoppy Loft. Dark brown amber. Nose is sweet chocolate, sweetness & chocolate feels a bit artificial, Oreo in a weird way. Taste is sweet plastic, chemical cacao, chocolate, Oreo, sugar,… Body is plastic, overly artificial sweet. Not bad but felt a bit too artificially sweet oddly. Didn't get smoke honnestly.

(Bottle, In De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 28 July 2017) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted, smoky nose with liquorice, black coffee, dark chocolate and smoke. Malty, roasted, smoky taste with notes of liquorice, coffee, dark chocolate and a balanced roasty bitterness. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty, with generous doses of smoke and sweet liquorice. Nice one.

On tap at Vrteška 2017, shared with Višnja 666! Dark brown, medium off-white to tan head. Ash and coffee aromas, but no smoke. Roasty, still no smoke... Moderate carbonation, light body, abrupt roasty finish. Realy nothing special.

Bottle, 0.33l. Cloudy dark brown color with thin creamy light brown head and average sparkling appearance. Aroma of grass, smoked sausage, leather and nuts. Taste starts mild sour fruity and grainy, follows by roasted malt, mild smoke and licorice, mouthfeel is umami, mild spicy and warming, while finish is medium bitter. Medium to full body, sticky texture and soft carbonation in palate. Excellent brew...
