500ml bottle from the brewery pouring a brown copper colour with a beige head, average retention leaving a nice creamy-foamy ring. Big dark fruit aromas with raisins, plums and dates. Caramel malt base, so fairly sweet and rich in the nose. Pretty much the same in the flavours with some apples notes helping and then, the hops cutting the lingering syrupy feel. Raisins, molasses stays on the tongue, but with a dryer finish. Hints of cognac appears smoothly. Pretty nice like the original version with just a tad of the barrel. Easy to drink for what you would think would be a heavy winter warmer. Even amazing with this early warm spring weather.

500ml bottle (thx, Tyler B.!) at Ash's. Pours a hazy blonde with a white head. Aroma is very bready with sweet notes. Taste is similar. This one tastes very simple for what it is, unfortunately.

Sweet caramel and raisin. Cloudy copper and Amber with a decent white. Sweet rains in and caramel with a long finish. A bit thin but nice.

A dark brown ale with a thin thick lacing frothy mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with dark fruits, molasses, alcohol warmth, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity caramel malt with loads of dark fruits, molasses, alcohol warmth, very nice and complex. On tap at brewery.

Bottle: Poured a deep amber color ale with a large off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of caramelized malt notes with some light Cognac notes and subtle residuals sugar notes is enticing. Taste is also a mix of caramelized malt notes with light dry fruits notes with some Cognac notes to round-off any rough edges with the right amount of residual sugar. Body is about average with good carbonation and no real apparent alcohol notes. Definitely a huge improvement over the base beers and something that should be available more often.
