Shared bottle at home. Pours clear dark copper with almost no head. Aroma of cocoa nibs, dark dried fruits, dark bread, soy sauce, perfume, ethanol, liquorice, caramel. Tastes salty, with some sweetness and balancing bitterness. Medium bodied, alcoholic warmth, smooth mouth feel, low carbonation. If I remember previous editions correctly, the 2025 vintage appears to be more balanced and more "round" than the earlier ones.

Aldeles nydelig, men litt overpowering. Lav CO2 med høy fylde og ganske søt, så kan det lett bli i meste laget. Sannsynligvis helligbrøde å åpne den allerede nå. Men absolutt god.

500ml bottle (2012) between five at the December 2016 Shrewsbury Beer Exchange Group meeting in Chez Sophie. Cheers Mat for another interesting offering. It poured reddy brown, a very dark brown actually, sadly no head at all. Aroma was of malts and dried fruits (dates, figs etc). Taste was rich dried dark fruits (again dates and figs) and coffee/chocolate cake. Alcohol noticeable but not ’in your face’ for a 19%ABV brew.

500ml bottle from trade with Gunnar @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie. Pours deep reddish dark brown, no head whatsoever. Aroma of rich malty grainy dates, cola. Taste is oily, rich dark fruits, grains, dates, dark fruits, chocolate cake, warming, rich, boozy. For a 19% beer, this is surprisingly balanced.

Heftig og alkoholisk. Mulig jeg er sær, men dette blir litt for mye. Kanskje bedre med 3-4 års lagring først.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet Tromsö, bought in July 2015. (vintage 2014) Clear dark amber with no head. Sweet aroma and taste of dried fruit, caramel, malt, light licorice and some hints of nuts. The body was big. Warming alcohol in the finish.

Old rating rerated 12.07.2015, 0,5l bottle (2012 vintage) @ home:
Tiny bubbly shortlasting head. Aroma is slightly dry fruity, raisins, citrus, caramel malts, alcohol, dark sugar, grass, butterscotch, dates, figs, burnt caramel. Taste is slightly rich and boozy, dark sugar, hops, citrus, alcohol, raisins, caramel malts, grass, butterscotch, burnt caramel, minerals. Medium to longlasting bitterness, slightly harsh and syrupy mouthfeel. Nice enough, eventually. But I guess it needs to be aged even longer...
