I have seen a boxer with a broken power hand fight an honest fight with nothing but a stiff jab, and his hand was raised in victory after three rounds. That man is a true fighter and this beer is in his honour. Like a jab, there is nothing flashy about a pale ale, but when done right, It’ll teach you how things should be done.

Part of my first flight on the deck of the brewpub on 13th August 2025, sat in the afternoon sunshine overlooking the ocean with friends; life doesn't get much better. Bright golden body, white crown on top. Nice, easy going blend of pale malts and slightly bittering hops.

A golden blonde ale with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, nice biscuit malt with faint British hops, light mineral notes, OK. In mouth, a nice biscuit malt with resinous piney hops, light mineral notes, light cereals, pleasant. On tap at brewery.

Poured from 650mL bottle. Slightly hazy orange gold with white head. Bready, biscuity malt with touch of pine hops. Below average.

On tap at Sooke Oceanside, pours a clear pale yellowish blonde with a small white head. Nose brings out crisp piney hops and dry biscuity malt in decent balance; bit of a herbal character. Flavour is similar, with piney hops, some caramel, biscuity malt and a light vegetal character. Decently constructed and clean. Not bad.

Aroma of nice sweet hops. Has a soft gold body with no head. Flavour is nice sweet lager grains and sweet hops like pale ales of old. Mouthfeel is nice and full. It's a gppd pale ale, well crafted, salt of the earth style and there's nothing wrong with that.

Draft - Lots of caramel malts. Clear gold with a small white head. Caramle, some grapefruit and bitterness. Old school.

Draught at St. Augustine's, Vancouver
Hazy golden colour. Some bready malts, but it's subtle, tiny residual sweetness, lingering fruity esters, not much hop character.
Balanced, good.

Slight haze, amber, no head earthy piney hop, crackery malt, decent yeast complexity...not bad pale.

Taster at St. Augustine with Alex, Josh, and Sunshine. Pours an almost clear golden with a weak white head. Aroma is a bit fruity and malty. Taste is similar with more malty notes. Meh.
