Tasting at Black Metal West
Black colour. Aroma of mushrooms. Strong body, mild residual sweetness, character from the roasted malts, a bit ashy, with some liquorice, lightly salty.
Straight and solid Imperial Stout.

650ml bottle at Erik's. Vintage 2017. Pours a very dark brown with a weak beige head. Aroma is a bit fruity, roasted malt, some slight chocolate notes. Similar taste with lots of roasted malt and chocolate. Good one.

Dark brown. Not much head. Has almost a fruity note, lots of nuts, maybe a touch of smoke even. Light body for the style, with a burnt fruit, a little bit of honeyish sweetness, definitely some alcoholic strength. But all told it's fairly light and not especially complex for the style.

A dark brown stout with a thin brown head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with light vanilla, light coffee, creamy, nice and smooth. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with loads alcohol warmth, light licorice, light caramel malt with light licorice notes, very nice and warm. 8-3-8-4-16

Bottle: Poured a black color stout with a nice light dark beige head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of chocolate notes with some light roasted malt and oak notes. Taste is a nice mix of chocolate notes with light residual sugar notes and light oak notes that rounds off any rough edges. Body is light for style with good carbonation and no real apparent alcohol notes. Not the most complex stout but still very enjoyable and drinkable.

Bottle. Pours black with a creamy dark brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has strong roasted malts and bitter dark grains with some bourbon barrel backing. Flavor has strong bitter dark grains with a good amount of bitter chocolate, roasted ales and a touch of barrel.
