Black colour with large brownish head. The aroma is suspicious: metallic, sharp; later, some coffee and dark chocolate. But the flavour is not infected, although it's highly carbonated; good flavour of dark chocolate, coffee, hint of vanilla, a bit ashy in the finish; most of the sweetness seem to have been fermented. Soft finish.
Very good.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a huge bright brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of floral coffee notes with some black chocolate and light vanilla notes is quite pleasant. Taste is a good mix of black chocolate notes with some roasted flavours with some floral coffee notes, lactose and nice vanilla beans notes. Body is about average with probably too much carbonation for the style but no apparent alcohol. I loved the fact that this beer almost tasted like a latte.

Bottle from Bishop’s Cellar, Halifax. It pours jet black with a thick tan head. The nose is rich roasted malt, big unanimously character, dark chocolate, salted liquorice, burnt treacle, light vanilla, rocky road and light smoke. The taste is bitter, rich roast, espresso coffee, mild acidity, charred wood, toasted spice, scorched earth, umami notes, light vanilla and liquorice with a lingering bitter/charred finish. Fulsome body and moderate carbonation. Quite rich and robust. It has rather good balance. A well made stout.
