This special version of BA B.O.R.I.S. was aged in very special Canadian Whiskey barrels, instead of Kentucky Bourbon barrels. What you get is a crisper, cleaner character imparted from the barrel aging, which is a refreshing twist on this specialty – our highest rated beer.

Bottle shared in London - thanks to Colin. Pours deep brown with a foamy, beige head. Hearty dark malts in the nose, roast, chocolate. Emisum sweet flavour with moderate ash, dark berries, baking cocoa, ripe berries, hints of coffee. Full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carbonation. Lightly warming in the finish with more nicely rounded chocolate character, moderate roast, cocoa. Great stuff.

650ml bottle

Pours pitch black with a brown head. Aroma of roasty malts, whisky, wood, vanilla, oak, toffee and syrup. Taste is smooth, roasty and woody with loads of whisky, oak, hints of vanilla, toffee, syrup and chocolate. Finish is smooth, sweetish and woody with some stingy oak, vanilla, toffee, syrup and roastiness. Feels a bit more stingy than the regular BA Boris. --- Beer merged from original tick of Barrel-Aged B.O.R.I.S. Royale on 19 Sep 2015 at 17:43 - Score: 8

650ml bottle shared between 6 at the Midlands tasting on 24th Aug 2014. Poured black with thin off-white head. This is one lovely brew (my sweet tooth cracked wide open). The nose excited my senses as the caramel. toffee, treacle and whisky notes rose up from my glass to fill my nosal passages. The flavours blew away my taste buds and the malty molasses imparted their magic: dark fruits with roasted, coffee, vanilla pods, oak hints and all wrapped around subtle whisky notes. Really enjoyed this.
