Grisettes were originally brewed for the industrial workers similar to how Saisons were brewed for the farmhands. Similar in design and purpose; nourishment, hydration, and brightened morale. Our Grisette, Scrip is named after the controversial form of currency used in mining towns, only to be spent at the company store. Scrip, was primarily fermented with Saison strains and brettanomyces, no beer souring bacteria was used. After 2 months in stainless, it spent 9 months in oak wine barrels. Crisp and refreshing with notes of tart citrus and pineapple.

Bottle. Pours clear golden, medium white head, great residual. Aroma is light, hints of dust, oak, white wine, lemon, pear. Flavor is light tart, light funk, clean. Not in your face, but a thoroughly enjoyable low alcohol experience. Light plus body, soft mouthfeel.

This is how to celebrate the end of lockdown! Jackie O’s Scrip Wine BA Grisette 4.5% Pale straw gold with minimal eggshell white foam and a vinous but with a medicinal edge aroma. Lovely round carbonation and soft body. Tart, acidic, banana bread, floral, some sort of tie jam semi-Smokey red wine character very interesting and complex but with a reasonable ABV to be enjoyed solo or with a good friend/loved one. Nice.

500 ml bottle from Cardinal Trading. Funky nose, lactic acid, hay, lemon, yogurt, white wine. Pale gold, clear, brilliant, low head. Nicely vinous flavor, yogurt or ricotta, herbs, grapes, hay. Light and crisp, nicely wild but only moderately tart. Good barrel character. Elegant and restrained overall.

Bottle shared by Jack, thanks! Pours a near clear gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has lemon and wine barrel with some flora and sweet grains backing. Flavor has light tart fruits and a bit of apple with some white wine and light grain underlying.

Bottle shared in London - cheers to Cloin. Mild gusher. Pours hazy gold with a creamy white head. Wheaty and lightly yeasty, has some lemon peel, low bitterness. Light bodied with delicate, massaging carbonation. Pretty clean on the finish, more lemon peel, mellow funk, wheat flakes. Not bad.
