Shared 500 ml bottle at local tasting. ABV is 11%. Pitch black colour, moderate tan head. Strong roasty and salty aroma, notes of tar, seaside and old rope, hints of smoke, also notes of oak / vanilla and coffee as expected. The flavour is fairly dry and very roasty with distinct notes of coffee, hints of smoke and oak / vanilla.

From 500ml bottle, 8 Wired library tasting. Pours black with a tan cap. Earthy, coffee, raspberry, cherry, sour damson, liquorice, toasty, aniseed and deep red fruit. Good body, touch thinner than the 2.18 in the glass next door. Absolutely sensational.

As Batch 31 @ 11%. Opaque dark brown beer, good dark tan head. Palate is airy and fairly dry and has reasonable fine carbonation. Decent dark chocolate laden malts, bitterish, trace of woody bitterness. Mild vanilla and coffee. Some dark fruits, well buried. More rich dark chocolate on the finish. Quite drinkable, if it had been a tad sweeter it would have been great.

Der malzige Beginn überzeugt mit klarem hintergründigem Kaffeearoma. Etwas bitter, spritzig, gleichzeitig holzig und hopfig. Cremig, süffig, mittellanger, fast nebensächlicher Nachhall. Schwer zu trennende Aromen. 9/11/12/12/10/11

Sehr dunkelbrauens, fast schwarzes Bier mit geringer bräunlichen Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr röstmalzig, Kaffee, Schokolade, holzig. Geschmack intensiv röstmalzig, holzig, Kaffe, Schokolade, leicht alkoholisch.

Poured from a bottle it is a dark brown color with a slight head. The aroma is a nice smokey scent with a boozey smell. The taste is very strong smokey taste tthat lingers bitter on the palate

From a 33 cl bottle shared at home. Pours black with a tan head. Coffee nose with some metallic notes. Flavors of oak, dark fruits, tobacco and licorice. Lots of complexity. Chewy mouth feel with a bitter roasted finish with some sweet notes.

12.5% shared at KyotoLefty’s tasting. A dark brown, almost black pour with a dark beige head of foam. Boozy, nicely done barrel aged beer with a tan head. Thick body, very woodsy, bitter & bourbon. Licorice, bitter But tasty.
