An incredibly unusual beer made in collaboration with three brewers

A collaboration of three brewers, three nationalities and six ideas brought together to learn, experiment and enjoy. Made by Kelly Ryan from Good George Beer in NZ, Brett Ellis (originally from the US) from the Wild Beer Co, and Mark Tranter from Burning Sky Brewery. This beer explores new ideas, techniques, ingredients, combinations and processes.

Using all three brewers combined knowledge and experiences to create an incredibly unusual and complex beer, this utilises every opportunity to take advantage of amazing ingredients and try alternative techniques.
Somerset Sharpham Park Spelt has been used for a full body. Pink peppercorns give a gentle sweet spiciness. Saison and Brettanomyces yeast strains lead to a dry spicy character that will continue to evolve. Wood-ageing in French red wine barrels for 4 months adds depth and oak. Passion-fruit brings a tart tropical fruit character. The 4 month ageing process has been finished off with amazingly tangy Hibiscus flowers. That is one shnoodlepippin beer!

Bottle at home in London. I think I got it from Utobeer. Pours clear, pink-gold with a frothy. The nose has some tangy berries, grape skins, mild acetic twang and suggestions of pepper. Light sweet flavor with moderate tart berries, further skins and pits, definitely some peppery spice. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Balanced and dynamic finish, moderate tartness, clean pepper, melon, passion fruit, melon. Really nice. Great complexity.

Bottle at Red Squirrel. Hazy orange with a pink tinge, thin head. Good saison aromas, lots of pepper and fruit. Taste has a sour note, and something srcumpy-cidery. Not everyone’s cup of tea, but I enjoyed it. --- Beer aliased from original tick of Old Pink Peppercorn on 22 Jan 2015 at 12:58 - Score: Appearance - 4 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 6.5. Original review text: Cask at the hanging bat. Pours murky yellow gold, thin ring of white head. Light spice aroma, pepper for sure. Taste is a bit thin, light pepper and maybe some fruitiness. Pepper builds slowly, but not in a bad way.

Hazy amber beer with a small apricot coloured head! Palate is softish with fine minerally carbonation. Light gueuzy sourness with mild peppery spice. At the same time there is a sherbet candy sweetness. Underneath wood and red wine. Finishes semi dry and crispy. One of these ’everything but the kitchen sink’ beers and here it works well. Delicious!

Vollmundiger Antrunk, in dem sowohl der Pfeffer als auch die Fruchtigkeit gut hervorkommt. Wenig herb, sehr süffig, zum Ende etwas trocken. Wenig scharfer Abgang, sehr gut! 11/11/10/9/11/11

RE-RATE: 330ml bottle @ Beermoth brewer tasting. Lots more passionfruit and raspberry pips coming through with this. Much more berry fruitiness, light and sweet presenting a new dimension to this beer 330ml bottle from Beermoth. Quite a sparkling pour. Redcurrants & forest berries come to the fore, passionfruit introduces a sweet tartness.. every sip presents a new facet of this fantastic beer.. french wine, oak barrel hue, tangy hibiscus, a touch of lambic & once again those berries. A great complex beer for the autumn months.
