Bottle: Poured a deep burgundy color ale with a dirty brown foamy had with light retention and not much lacing. Aroma of caramelized malt with light residual sugar notes with some vinous notes. Taste is also a mix of dry caramelized malt notes with some vinous notes, light oak with some subtle residual sugar notes. Body is about average for style with good carbonation with no apparent alcohol notes. Not bad but missing some depth.

Bottle from BC Liquors
The color is dark, near black. The aroma is mild, malt and red wine. The body is strong enough, the base has some caramel and sadness, no depth, rather earthy, with mild red wine character and boozy final.
Very random product, no elegance, just drinkable and overly expensive.

Fruity vinous nose.Fruity palate, red wine notes, soft malt and low carbonation. Medium alcohol heat. Interesting, but lacking something

Poured from 650mL bottle (packaged on Oct 17). Dark brown with next to no beige head. Pretty comparable to the regular Hermannator, slightly smoother with just a subtle hint of the red wine barrel. Wouldn't mind trying to age a bottle.

650mL bottle, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma reveals the red wine barrels upfront, with a little oak, caramel and bready malt. Flavour is quite oaky, with considerable leather, chocolate, light peat, some red wine, and wood on the finish. Leathery, cocoa-y finish, with plenty of wood. This is great.

650 ml bottle. Pours a dark reddish brown with light head. Aromas of dark berries and dark cherries, sweet chocolate and slick roasted malts. Aromas follow same though red grapes more than cherries with a light vinous sourness. Definite alcohol in flavor and feel. Interesting. This one may age well.

Bottle, BC Beer Awards. Dark brown. Not much head. Aroma, smells a lot like herm, maybe a touch of red wine barrel, the wine is light again. This is mostly herm. Toffee, soft dark malts but as always a bit light for an eisbock.

Draft - Nice dark cocoa notes. Dark murky brown with a small white head. Dark toffee malts, cocoa and a light roasty smooth finish. Not sure the barrel adds much more.
