A reddish-brown top-fermented bock beer with a rich, caramel-malty flavour and full of tones of toffee, prunes and dried fruits. The roasted malt not only provides a rich fragrance but also a wonderful aftertaste and a subtle bitterness.

Bottle, 9C. Dark brown with a fluffy beige head. Aroma of toffee and bread. Taste is sweet with caramel and some dark berries before a dry, slightly spicy finish. Quite carbonated - liked it more after a few swirls. Nice balance but a bit anonymous.

8/12/2011 33cl bottle @ Backdoor, Gent - BB: 12/11 (2011-697)

Very dark brown beer, small light beige head, unstable, not adhesive, dissipates completely. Aroma: very dark caramel, some mocha, sweet brown sugar, coffee, cocoa powder. MF: light carbon, full body. Taste: full complex flavour, dried fruits, chocolate, little sweet, caramel. Aftertaste: some hop bitterness, little sour, caramel, mocha and cocoa powder. Maybe it's the age, but this is one mighty fine bock!

(Bottle, Monk’s CafΓ© Wallingatan, Stockholm) Dark brown colour with brief, beige head. Malty nose with notes of caramel, dark bread, dried fruit, raisins, molasses and spicy hops. Malty taste with caramel, raisins, prunes, dried fruit, dark bread, brown sugar and a mild spicy bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, quite sweet. A touch too sweet, but tasty and quite nice.

Bottle. A hazy, copper colored beer with a small, offwhite head. Dried fruits, prunes mostly, caramel and some alcohol on the nose. The flavor follows the same path with caramel, dried fruits and a little warming alcohol touch. A bit thin on the palate, considering the style at least. A decent one that doesn’t impress in any way. 101015
