A heavy, copper colored, bittersweet and extreme hopped beer.
Extase is a Double IPA with a blend of fourteen excellent hops, very intense and with a balanced character. The slight sweetness of the malt sugars and the alcohol complement the bitterness of the beer. Extase does up to its name with its extreme hoppiness (over 100 IBU). A beer with stratification: because of the diversity of hops the beer tastes something differently with the gradual warming by every sip. A delight for every ‘hophead’.

650ml bottle at the Hoppy Pub, Thessaloniki. Hazy pale golden color with white nice head. Yeasty, sweet fruity aroma, like a weiss, light hoppy notes, floral and spicy. Sweet taste, a lot if banana, yeasty, like a weiss again, some alcohol when it gets warmer. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.

330ml bottle from Saveur Biere. Pours hazy amber with decent white head. Lovely fresh fruity aroma. Taste is wonderfully balanced, palette-filling and hugely enjoyable with tropical elements and citrus bursting out. Probably the best I’ve had from the Docter so far!

Bottle. Nose is herbal hops, citrus, lemon, malt, caramel. Taste caramel, mineral, leading to marmalade, orange, malt, light spearmint, in a sweet orange finish with herbal hops,. The resin character emerges as the beer breathes and a balanced biscuit note emerge. Mouthfeel is light. It’s a very nice beer, that is an interesting take - it is very different to the hop bomb IIPA which are currently on trend, and is actually delicious. .

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Hogerdijk, Culemborg. Hazy dark yellow with a huge cream-white head. Citrus aroma with some pineapple. Taste is sweet but leaves a strong bitterness in the finish. Well concealed alcohol, drinks as a normal IPA. Nice one.

660 ml bottle @ Melkebaren. Unclear yellow/golden body with a big creamy white head. Aroma is mostly fruity with some spicy yeast and light malt. Flavor is quite sweet pale malt, some complex fruitiness, spicy and grassy bitterness with flowers. Fine body and fruity bitter aftertaste. It was probably a mistake to have this after an imperial black IPA from founders, that one probably took away a lot of the hoppy edge from this one. It’s definitively not made as an American IPA, that’s OK, but still I feel this beer is too sweet and I miss some fresher hops here. Must try it again later when the opportunity calls.

clear yellow, smooth offwhite head. super nice ipa and double ipa aroma, quite tight, quite bitter, with some flowery notes too. this bottle is a little old, but the aroma is really good nevertheless. Flavor is malty, bitter and flowery hops, sweet flowery note too, very bitter, lots of both malts and hops, and the sweetness is not cloying. probably the best double ipa from belgium i have ever tasted.

22.4 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 7/2015. Pours hazy bright orange color with a 2-3 finger dense and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense foamy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pine, peppercorn, light caramel, bread, floral, grass, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/pine hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and moderate malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pine, peppercorn, light caramel, bread, floral, grass, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Good amount of peppery yeast spice and pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, pine, light caramel, bread, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/pine hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and moderate malt flavors; with a nice crisp malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, sticky, and slightly creamy mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome Belgian DIPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of big citrus/pine hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and moderate malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to sip on for the the ABV. Very big on bright hop flavors with supporting malt and yeast notes all around. A highly enjoyable offering.

hazy orange colour, huge, not too stable off-white head; amazing aroma of tangerine, peach, some overripe tropical fruits, grassy and resiny notes, tea leaf and biscuit; taste is the same with a bit less complexity and harmony; excellent IIPA
