IPA - Imperial / Double Regular
Score

ABV: 8.5% IBU: 110 Ticks: 147
A heavy, copper colored, bittersweet and extreme hopped beer.

Extase is a Double IPA with a blend of fourteen excellent hops, very intense and with a balanced character. The slight sweetness of the malt sugars and the alcohol complement the bitterness of the beer. Extase does up to its name with its extreme hoppiness (over 100 IBU). A beer with stratification: because of the diversity of hops the beer tastes something differently with the gradual warming by every sip. A delight for every ‘hophead’.

Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours hazy amber gold with a frothy white head. Aroma is hoppy, but unusual for my nose. Rather fruity flavor. Mildly spicy. Dry. Tasty. Flavor is very nice, but hard for me to put into words. Finishes nicely bitter.

Genuine IPA, not a compromise called ’tripel hop’ which is popular nowadays in Belgium, since 2013. Snow white, creamy head and hazy golden blonde robe, aroma of grass, green apple, bread, raw cauliflower, bitter honey and flowers. Citrussy onset, dry with strong, tingling carbonation, very mineral-like, bit grainy in the middle and ending in a citrussy and grassy hoppiness, but on the aromatic side rather than real bitter and finishing sooner than I expected (and hoped). Not all bad but I am convinced this brewery could have done a lot better.

Bottle - Floral, mandarin and fruity nose. Hazy yellow with a nice white head. Sweet lemony citrus and a light mellow bitterness. Nice.

33oml Bottle: BBD Dec14. Poured into a Westmalle chalice at home on 7th Aug 14. Dull hazy old gold body with a full and deep white foam coating for a head. The nose was malty bread and heavy hops. The taste ditches the malts, the hops taking over completely: bitter and sharp with a mini tropical fruit hint here and there, some yeastiness in the flavourings too. Full bodied, hides the alcohol fairly well. A good, interesting brew.

660 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8.5%. Cloudy pale yellowish colour, large and lasting white head, looks like a witbier. Lovely and quite complex fruity aroma, notes of a wide variety of fruits, also spruce. Slightly sweet flavour, very hoppy, with a massive bitterness throughout. Bitter aftertaste too, nearly medicinal.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - BBE juni 2015, at Kaisla, 20140617) The beer poured golden and clear. Its head was huge, almost white and it lasted long. Aroma had fruitiness, grass and Belgian style yeast. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, floralness, grass, Belgian style yeast, malts and bitterness. Afteraste was fruity, hoppy and bitter. A tasty Belgian IPA in which the yeast characters were present but remained enough in the background.

Znakomite piwo, po prostu nie ma sie czego przyczepic. Piana spora gesta i kremowa, przy tym trwala. Kolor ciemno pomaranczowy, bardzo metny. Smkak wytrawny kwiatowy i grejfrutowy, zwlaszcza aromat. Tu chmiele przerozne graja pierwsze skrzypce. Wytrawnosc i goryczkowosc na niesamowicie wysokim poziomie. Ogromnie polecam fanom gozkich piw.

650mL bottle, pours an opaque dirty orange with a small white head. Nose is on the yeasty and malty side, with caramel malt, dirty Belgian yeast, and resinous hops further back. Flavour brings out fresh citrusy and resinous hops, yeast, and caramel malt. The yeast must be due to the Belgian influence - not my ideal type of IIPA, but it's certainly well-made. Very good.

Bottle 330ml (BB 06/2015, Saveur)
Hazy orange color, good white head. Orange, citrus, alcohol, some sweetier fruityness in the nose. Medium to full-bodied. Mellow fruity hoppyness. Drinkability is good despite of ABV. Quite sweet fruity, bitterness hits in the aftertaste. Enjoyable.

Bottle at home as I watch my beloved bruins lose to the dreaded habs. Pours orange with big pillowy head. Nose is nice citrus and yeast. Tastes of tangerine, mango, yeast, ginger, and quite grassy. Lively and smooth for a dipa. Dry finish and not overly sweet at all.
