Dark in color but light in flavor, this beer is deceiving. A light refreshing malt profile with a smooth clean finish. Hints of chocolate peak though with each sip.

On tap at Tin Whistle, pours a hazy reddish brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted malt and light fruitiness. Flavour is very bland, with toasted malt and maybe a slight hint of fruitiness. Restrained, weak and boring. Pointless beer.

Nice amber-black body and a decent dark beige head. Aroma is grass and barley, like it may have been a vegetable brew. Flavour is a slightly sweet barley with hints of grass. Better than some stuff by Tin Whistle, but I can’t say I’ve been impressed by this brewer to any stretch.

Nice lightish brown coloured body with a thinnish tan head. Mild aroma (no pun) of malt, light caramel and a touch of nuts. Medium-bodied; Assertive roasted malt with some light pitted fruits and a minor bit of vanilla. Aftertaste is pretty subdued with only sugars coming through and perhaps a touch of malt and nuts. Overall, a pretty unoffensive beer and one that shows relatively well - not bad by any means, just not sublime. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased a few days earlier at Sherbrooke Liquors in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, sampled at the Banff Springs hotel in Banff, Alberta on 30-December-2008.

bottle shared by jsquire - Pours dark amber with a thin head. The aroma and flavor are both basically just caramel malt. There’s a touch of hops in there. This thin bodied ale is only average, if that. On the plus side I didn’t notice the infected sourness that some reviewers seem to have encountered.

Hazy red brown ale with a thick light moka head. Pleasantr butterscotch aroma with light roasted notes. In mouth, euuughhhh! sourness comes out, with strong butter notes, nuts, and rather watery bodied. Infected!

2005 bottle I assume, shared on 11/6/05 with the Montreal crew. Filtered, force carbonated, low protein density makes for a thin appearance of mahogany-tan brown. Off-white head fizzles quickly away to a ring, leaving no lace. Aroma of buttercream, light chocolate sweetness and plenty of toffee/caramel. No hops. Flavor shows no hops either, but certainly brings plenty of caramel/toffee sugariness, very one-sided, with just a faint tinge of roast. More buttercream, but not terribly heavy, with a fizzy, annoying carbonation, moderately watery texture and a finish that has some dry, lightly vegetal/sourish notes, very faint, though. Body is medium, but the sugars provide no interesting complexity.

Mahogany-brown colour. Aroma of cocoa, vanilla and toffee. Sweet palate, mainly toffeeish with some almond. The toffee gets slightly earthy in the finish but remains quite sweet. A little one-dimensional for my tastes - comes off like a liquid Tootsie Roll.
