330ml bottle. Slightly cloudy orangey golden colour with chunks floating around, small, firm, frothy, minimally lacing, white head. Slightly sweet, floral and fruity aroma, a touch of honey. Taste is initially extremely yeasty, dry, moderately tart, all empowered by fizzy carbonation; later, with the dry and yeasty notes fading away, more conciliatory, as the previously disguised, minimally sweet and fruity notes remain.

Bottle thanks to FatPhil. Cheers my friend. Hazy gold orange amber with thick yeast in suspension. Thick cream coloured head. Some esters on aroma. Some maltiness. In mouth some maltiness light maltiness. Some yeast, some apple some peach. Yes a strong blegian ale. It’s got some decent character and it’s pretty good.

33 cl. bottle @ home. Hazy golden with a dense white head. Fruity, yeasty ’tripel’ smell. Decent enough but a bit one dimensional.

May 201: Brown 33cl bottle, best before 12-2012, poured into a Hoegaarden Grand Cru badged stemmed tulip glass. I left a few centimeters of beer in the bottle to ensure I got the true colours and tastes before pouring the reminder into my glass once I’d consummed the first pour. Pale amber in colour, wispy white covering on top, no real head because of my cautious initial pour. I got a better covering when I emptied the sediment remains and the rest of the bottle into my glass later. Yeasty aroma, some spices appear to be in there too. An apple feel also arrives as the beer settles in the glass. The mouthfeel is spritzy and sharp, the taste an alcoholic blend of citrusy hops, sweet, yet light molasses and mixed herbs. Another sweet ingrediant appears as the beer warms, which begins to turn the beer from interesting to unbalanced. I can’t claim to be an expert on quads, but this isn’t my idea of this style, pleasant enough but lacks body and depth for the alcohol content. I prefer the sweeter beers to the extra dry hoppy ones, but this is just too much for me in the sweet stakes. Having said that, once I’d poured the sediment and remainer of the beer into my glass it wasn’t such a sweet drink anymore: so perhaps the whole bottle should have gone in from the start.
