Corne du diable (French for "Horn of the devil") is a contemporary interpretation of the classic English India Pale Ale. This new style, born on the west coast of North America, is characterized by stronger and hoppier beers. The result is a red ale expressing caramel flavours coming from the malt, sharp bitterness and powerful hop aromas, thanks to dry hopping.

Nice medium red color, small slightly off white lacing head. Very fruity smell, mango and peach I think. Taste soft, light fruity, light bitter, light hops. Soft carbo and body.

Rating #666 for this beer! Pours cloudy brownish color with off white head. Pine and earthy hop aromas with some caramel. Similar flavors. Medium body with average carbonation.

On tap at Maon’d Kettle. Clear deep amber with off-white head of massive lacing. Beautiful floral and citrus that is well balanced with the malt. Bitterness is the star but restrained and nice malt compliments the hops.

From a 341ml bottle on 19/2/2011. Pours an opaque reddish amber. Has a nice floral, fruity hop aroma, with lots of caramel malt. The flavour follows suit, with sweet caramel malt, and citrus fruit (particularly grapefruit) prominent. It’s quite a sweet one, but there is good and quite big hop presence which keeps things in check. The carbonation is a little high for my liking, but overall this is an enjoyable, high quality IPA.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with frothy tan head. Nose of citrus, pine, caramel malt and hops. Taste is citrus and a strong pine finish with a caramel malt body. Heavy mouth feel.

Pours a deep copper with a thin whitish head that sticks itself to the glass on the way down. Aroma hits you with hops, citrusy and floral hops. Some caramel maltiness and maybe a touch of dms. Taste hits with hoppy bitterness, puts some maltiness in the middle then leaves you with a grapefruity bitter aftertaste. Ample carbonation, medium body. Pretty solid brew, I hope to sample more of their stuff soon.

Draught, 6.5% at the brewpub. Mild caramelly hop aroma. Hazy dark amber colour. Small creamy tan head. Good caramelly hop flavour and nice, clean bitterness. Very well-balanced.

300ml, handpulled at The Green Lion Inn in Malmö. Unclear, dark brown body. Off-white patchwork on the surface blanketing the glassware. Dark fruity aroma, lots of plums. Blended taste of piney hops and chocolate malts added by a touch of dark fruits. Dry hop bitterness to the ending. Well bodied and balanced, 30.07.2010).

Bought in a 6-pack at the Dépanneur Jovi in Hull, Quebec. Wow ! First thing you notice about this one, is the huge hop scent that comes out of it after the pour. Hazy golden-orange in colour, with a big off-white head that stays a while and creates thick and chunky lace. The hop is really present in the taste too. Bitter, but yet, very refreshing. Some fruits in the nose and a touch of cereal in the flavour. Pretty damn good English India pale ale.
