A brew to finish a day in the fields! This sparkling wine / beer hybrid perfectly balances the familiar spicy characteristics of the saison yeast and apple tartness with rich honey notes.

Courtesy of and thanks to tderoeck. 750 ml. bottle sampled as ‘Beavertown Barley Champagne” @ “Procrastinated Spontaneity /…………/ 2 Boekjes” tasting @ Gent. Hazy orange pour with no head. Nose is strange, smells like unintentionally funky and fermenting golden apples like cider that has gone wrong, hay, sweet candy, weird stuff. Taste is bitter oak, wild funk, quite alcoholic, golden apples going off in a natural way, very boozy, champagne, bitter herbs, candy. Fizzy with tiny bubbles. Very weird, little about this feels like intentional. An experience for sure.

23/V/14 - 50cl bottle @ home - BB: IX/2015 (2014-526) Thanks to JefVerstraete for sharing the bottle!
Clear bright orange beer, big aery fizzy white head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: sour apples, apple sauce, bit spicy, "flowery apples", cider with a lot of yeast, bit soapy. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bit sour, apple sauce, pretty bitter, bit spicy, weird and funky. Aftertaste: weird bitterness, champagne yeast, no, let me rephrase that: lots and lots of champagne yeast, bit sourish, not much else.
