Triple Bock is complex, elegant, and has the depth and complexity of a fine cognac, vintage port or an old sherry. Non-carbonated, ruby-black, and very special, Triple Bock should be sipped from a small snifter in a two-ounce serving.
This is a beer to savor, and sip slowly. Triple Bock has a brandy-like warmth and a complex melange of fruity, woody, and toffee-like flavors. Let the aroma fill your mouth and nose with rich malt and fruit overtones. Savor and appreciate its enormous character.
Serve Triple Bock as you would a fine sherry, at room temperature, in a small snifter. One bottle generously serves two or three. Recork and store standing up. Once poured into a small glass, the layers of aroma and flavor will continue to evolve as the deep ruby brew warms in the hand. There have been only three vintages produced: 1994, 1995 and 1997.

1994 Vintage bottle shared by csbosox. Pours a very oily and viscous black with no head whatsoever. The swirl of the glass reveals an oily, almost slimy stickiness to the beer. This nose is sweet, iodine, soy and a bunch of raw alcohol. The taste is big and sweet and sharp and soy and ... there is a lot going on in this, and none of it terribly pleasant. Overall, the beer is impressive in the sense of everything they have managed to cram into it. Having said that, this beer tastes like a beer that they tried to cram too much into. I hadn’t had this in 11 years, and was very happy to have another shot at it. I was amazed at how quickly I recalled the tastes after the first sip. Thanks for sharing this one Chris.

Bottle 2003 vintage. Thank you JensenTaster. Pours motor oily black with no head. Aroma is extremely wild & harsh. Sweet port & chocolate. So round, oily & smooth mouthfeel. Coffee, alcohol burn & cocoa powder. Extreme & exciting!

Thanks JensenTaster for letting us have this unique experience! Opaque black with no head. Intense chocolate aroma, some licorice, some cappucino. Flavour has the sweet bitterness of dark chocolate, not very beer-like, but a great experience.

Bottle at Toms Glasgow tasting 2 ... Deep black ... meaty nose .. ouch rich satly and meaty ... deep caramel ... some toffee ... some chocolate ... loads of salt.

Second batch, 1995 Vintage. Enjoyed with ilovedarkbeer and angrypirate. Aroma is a little bit of chocolate, with tons of soy and marmite. Pours dark with lots odd sediment. No head, lots of signs of aging. Taste is ultra sweet and not easy to drink. Prunes with a yeasty aftertaste that lasts forever. Mouth feel is syrupy goodness, but the bottle is quite possibly corked. hard to get down, but a once in a life time type of deal. Would love to have had it after it was first made, but I would have been 10 the last time this stuff was brewed. I know where there is more for sale.
Re-rate: 1995 Vintage from the same source as before. Pours a murky black that leaves dark brown coating all over the glass. Great legs. Aroma of yeast, autolyisis, nuts, vanilla, brandy, oak, salt, soy, and chocolate. Taste is chocolate and vinous, with maple and alcohol and vanilla. Syrupy. Not nearly as bad as the last time.

I’m one of the lovers. 1994 Reserve, drank February 2, 2008 @ Popeye’s in Tokyo. The pour is dark brown with not even an attempt at a head. Aroma is dark fruits, raisin, molasses, plums, caramel malts, chocolate cake, black cherry, and light soy. Could be the thickest body I’ve had the pleasure of taking down. Maple syrup is the first thing I noticed in the flavor, which suprised me only because it wasn’t anywhere in the aroma. Deep fruits, nice alcohol, caramel malts. The alcohol is not overpowering and adds much to the enjoyment. The long finish is dominated by the maple syrup and a nice alcohol warmth. Obviously sour, but completely overrun by the sweet molasses and syrup. I wrote down “wowza” after trying this one and I think that about sums it up.

Bottle. Black colour with some tan bubbles. Aroma is licorice, alcohol, chocolate. flavour is burned, licorice, alcohol, hop, chocolate. Raw complex beer.

Bottle. (blue, small, cognac-style corked bottle, 1997 vintage.) As black as can be, with some tan bubbles I suspect is a result of the pouring, not carbonation. The aroma has almost everything one can expect from a beer as black and thick as this one, except that it is very low on hops. There’s molasses, oak, vanilla, coffee, dark syrup, alcohol and beef stock. The thick, oily, sweetish palate has flavors of alcohol, dark syrup, molasses, licorice, something reminiscent of soy, that I can’t really place, it’s quite umami-ish, and finishes in the same way. It is not a beer one needs a full bottle of, 5-10cl is enough, but it is certainly a nice brew. The World Wide Stout I had after this one actually got boring. (070914)

RB# 1700: 25 cL bottle - 1997, thanks to joergen. Pours thick and oily, black. Aroma is raisin and portish, chocolate and deep dark maltish notes. Thick mouthfeel, quite smooth with no carbonation but nut dull as such. Flavour is plain out great thick chocolate, molasses, dark roasted malt notes, sweet and still malty dry somehow. If this is the kind of soy-sauce people are using - please invite me to dinner :)
