Triple Bock is complex, elegant, and has the depth and complexity of a fine cognac, vintage port or an old sherry. Non-carbonated, ruby-black, and very special, Triple Bock should be sipped from a small snifter in a two-ounce serving.
This is a beer to savor, and sip slowly. Triple Bock has a brandy-like warmth and a complex melange of fruity, woody, and toffee-like flavors. Let the aroma fill your mouth and nose with rich malt and fruit overtones. Savor and appreciate its enormous character.
Serve Triple Bock as you would a fine sherry, at room temperature, in a small snifter. One bottle generously serves two or three. Recork and store standing up. Once poured into a small glass, the layers of aroma and flavor will continue to evolve as the deep ruby brew warms in the hand. There have been only three vintages produced: 1994, 1995 and 1997.

1997 vintage poured a flat black with no head and if you didn’t know better, you’d swear it was soy sauce. Swirl it around the snifter and notice the legs, like a nicely aged scotch. Aroma is one of the strongest I’ve ever encountered with dark chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, soy sauce, molasses and port in the nose. Here’s where the beer takes a turn for the worse... Flavor has touches of hard candy, maple syrup, merlot grapes, port, wood, vanilla and whiskey - none of which marry well. The primary flavor is maple syrup and something salty. Mouth feel is syrupy and heavy, with strong alcohol readily apparent. I hate to say it, but this wasn’t good. Too heavy and too much to really be good. Actually needed a splash of mineral water to thin it out. It’s worth a try to experience the wide breadth of beer and beer styles, but you won’t have more than one and I’d be shocked if you finished the bottle.

1995 bottle - Pours thick and black with no head. It’s so thick that it coats the glass. There’s a strong aroma of malt, booze, and maybe some licorice. I like my big beers, but I still have to describe the flavor is ridiculously intense with malt, dark fruit, vanilla, and I’m not sure what else. It’s so intense, bitingly so, that it’s rather hard to drink, definitely a slow sipper. This beer is obviously very full bodied, and it has no carbonation at all. Frankly this one is hard to rate as it’s so different. I had the 8.5 oz bottle to myself and that was too much. After a few ounces it became less enjoyable. Strange brew, indeed.

Bottle 1997. [ Courtesy of sk8viking ] Dark black color with no head. Aroma is heavy vintage, soy sauce, raisin, plum, wood, alcoholic. Flavor is heavy sweet and moderate bitter (malt bitter) vintage, with a long duration, very power full. Body is full, texture is syrupy, carbonation is flat, finish feel is moderate to heavy alcoholic. Very power full and more like a vintage port.... but very nice ;o))

Thanks to Brewfiend for this one. 1997 vintage. A very thick and still beer. Nice bottle, but unfortunately it is blue. The aroma has very dry red wine, it is very nice, and somehow the alcohol is hidden. Flavor is a combintation of many qualities. It is a bit like an imperial stout of pure sweet malty syrup, but there is also some roasted grain, and red wine. Thick and full palate. A slow sipper, but that is why this beer is corked.

2007 bottle; 5/10/2007 Nose of soy sauce and woodiness, Looks like soy sauce too; dark opaque brown with no apparent carbonation; flavor of sweet chocolate, brown sugar,and a little soy with a tiny alcohol finish. Might have been pretty good in it’s unoxidized prime! 4/3/7/3/11 2.8 2007 Bottle 2/8/08 This bottle is nose of chocolate and oak; black as I have seen with no head; flavor is chocolate, raisnis, prunes, and molasses; finish shows only a touch of alcohol. Much better than the first bottle I had;

Bottle (1997 vintage drank in 2007): Poured a deep black color beer with no head or lacing or even carbonation for that matter. Aroma of dark brown sugar with sweet malt is quite extreme. Alcohol was no discernable which is quite a feat at 17%. Taste is extremely sweet and definitely too sweet for my own taste buds. I understand the soy sauce commentary I read in previous ratings but more gear toward sweet then salty in his case. I can see this as something to sip but this is definitely not something I would drank very often.

Pours espresso black into a snifter. Swirl produces thick coating. Strong soy and burnt plastic aromas. Dark chocolate, vanilla extract and a lasting bitter rum/cherry finish. Wow, can’t drink much of this. Drain pour.

Bottle. 1997 vintage. Pours a thick black color into the glass with a very small tan head. Very malty aroma with lots of chocolate and toffee. Sweet warming malty flavor with hints of syrup and chocolate, also some weak hints of smoke. Has a very dry malty and bitter finish.
