Dry, sour, with a hint of raisin. Pronounced notes of cherry pie and horse blanket, the hallmarks of Brettanomyces. Over a year in used French oak wine barrels contributes notes of toasted oak and vanilla. Wonderfully complex and definitely cellar-able.

2015 Vintage Bottle Deep dark brown coloured body with a bit of a muddied and definitely ruby tint with some violet glowing and a super small, very fast-dying off-white head that leaves nothing on top after a second. Aroma of vinegar, light acid and a good deal of light fruits like raspberries and cherries with some malts, a touch of alcohol and ending with a touch of a vinous note. Light-bodied; Strong acidic and vinegar notes up front with some slightly bittered and pungent earthy malt notes that lead to a refined and tingling raspberry and cherry note with some blueberries and a dose of grapes as well. Aftertaste shows some mellow chocolates, a good deal of dry oak along with a touch of some grain and lightly astringent flavours at the end. Overall, a more acidic and vinegary 'soured' beer than other more fruit-based and 'natural' sours, but still interesting to try and the juxtaposition of the malts along with some of the other flavours make this neat to try and flavourful while being a touch simplistic throughout. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from West Coast Liqour in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada (YVR Airport) on 05-June-2015 for CA$13,99 sampled at home exactly three years later on 05-June-2018 in Washington across this fine country and that of Canada as well.

Dark color, brown with red hue, and compact beige head. The aroma is sour and penetrating, fruity, a bit earthy; in line with the North American style, it has a bit of acetic acid, maybe acetone, but it’s one of the best. Good body strength, possibly with some residual sugars; round mouthfeel, good caramelly malts, strong sourness, and overall a very good fruity character, dark fruits, sour cherries, some dark berries too; a bit woody and astringent in the final.
One year old, perfectly mature, great North American Sour.

Bottle: Poured a clear deep reddish color ale with a large off-white foamy head with good retention. Aroma of light tart notes with some oak is pretty pleasant. Taste is closer to a Flanders red then a dark sour with some oak and cherry notes, light tart notes with light acidic notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Solid beer that would be interesting to compare to something like Rodenbach.

Dark red-amber, no head. Aroma is typical dark sour with berries, tartness, but roasty notes that clash. Tart on the palate, sweetness late. I don’t get the appeal of dark sour, I just don’t.

22 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small white head. Aroma brings out dark tart fruits, vinegar, and wood. Flavour brings out lots of wood, light vinegar, tart dark fruits and light funk. Really cohesive and nicely woody. Excellent stuff.
