Just like the eerie sensation that local cavers feel when going “lights out” in one of the Island’s 1,000+ recorded caves, our IDA is a deep descent into your taste buds. Dark in colour with a prominent Northwest hop aroma, the body is balanced with semi-sweet malt flavours of roasted coffee and chocolate. So go on and take a sip into absolute darkness.

On tap at St. Augustine's, pours black with a small tan head. Nose is dry, with bitter dry cocoa, roast and light piney hops. Flavour is decently balanced, with roasted malt and an earthy hoppiness. Pretty competently crafted - just nothing overly interesting. Okay, but lacking.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
The color is almost black. Mild aroma of roasted malts, ashes; metallic. Dry mouthfeel; it has some ashy roasted malt flavor, but it’s far from impressive, and without the required body; strong bitterness, a bit of minty hop resins, but not much hop quality.
Unimpressive.

Bottle from the government store. Dark brown. Thin head. . The aroma is mostly chocolate with some woody hops influence. A bit thin at irst, but there’s some fudgey sugars in the finish, and a woody, balancing hop bitterness as well. Good.

Bottle. black, lively carbonation, offwhite head. Roasted notes with a grassy west coast hop counterpoint. Medium light chewy body, sparkly mouthfeel. Quite pleasant and drinkable.

650 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with light head,. Aromas of cola, chalk/ash, and roasted malts. Flavors of bitter chocolate, burnt coffee, and again cola. Super dry with quite a bit of carbonation. Might go well with a rich chocolate cake...
