This is an aggressive beer. You probably won’t like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to be able to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth. We would suggest that you stick to safer and more familiar territory—maybe something with a multimillion-dollar ad campaign aimed at convincing you it’s made at an independent brewery, or one that implies that their tasteless seltzer / fizzy yellow beer / whatever-the-hell will give you more sex appeal. Perhaps you think multimillion-dollar ad campaigns make all that junk taste better. Perhaps you’re mouthing your words as you read this.

We believe that pandering to the lowest common denominator represents the height of tyranny—a virtual form of keeping the consumer barefoot, stupid & led by the nose social media. Brought forth upon an unsuspecting public in 1997, Arrogant Bastard Ale openly challenged the tyrannical overlords who were brazenly attempting to keep the people chained in the shackles of poor taste. One glance around and it’s glaringly obvious: they’re winning...as of now. Yet we will not stop. Ever. Since the very beginning, Arrogant Bastard Ale has reveled in its unprecedented and uncompromising celebration of intensity. There have been many nods to Arrogant Bastard Ale…even outright attempts to copy it…but only one can ever embody the true nature of Liquid Arrogance! Hated By Many. Loved By Few.

650ml bomber. Pours clear dark ruby/chestnut brown with a big foamy tan head. Aroma: sweet dark fruity malt, caramel. Taste: rich, sweet, dark fruits, caramel, toffee, plum, a little warming alcohol, pine. Slightly bitter finish. Medium body, low carbonation. Silky smooth. Really nice.

Ganz schön arrogant im Glas, in der Nase Malz und Frucht, soweit schonmal sehr lecker. Im Trunk alkoholisch, leichte Süße, Karamell. Im Abgang langer alkoholischer Nachklang, nussig, holzig.

Nice marketing :) Ruby with little brown head. Aroma of aroma hops (Citra?), that is Papaya, some other tropic fruit, caramel, a little roast and wax, brown sugar, maybe even mocha or coffee. Taste is lots of everything, spicy pepper, hop bitterness, dark chocolate bitterness, not much sweetness though. Finish is like after a cup of coffee, with some additional sour fruity stuff. Light and watery on the tongue. Medium body. Not so heavy actually. Complex and deep. Not bad.

Can at home. Pours a hazy deep mahogany colour and a big beige head. Aroma of pine, oak, wild berries, chocolate, spices, dried fruit, ammonia and grass. The flavour has more hops with grapefruit, pine, grass and some chocolate and wild berries. A little dry in the end. Has a slick mouth feel, medium to heavy body, and solid bitterness. A pretty hoppy and powerful ale, and the aroma is more complex than the flavour.

Can, brewed in Berlin. Stunned this is not rated. Nose is malt, yeast, toffee, herbal hops, sweet tropical note, hint of vanilla. Taste is malt, toffee, rye, caramel, bread, leading to a bitter grapefruit, pith and herbal, pine hop note. Mouthfeel is exceptionally smooth. I rarely bother commenting on appearance, but this is a beautiful beer, deep amber, chestnut with a pillow head. It’s not my favourite style but an exceptional example, though I always slightly wish I was drinking a BA version.

On tap @ What’s Brewing, Stavanger. Pours mahogany, with a big creamy, off white head. Aroma is hoppy notes, with resin and citrusy notes of orange peel and grapefruit, as well as roasted malts with bread and honey. Medium body, with soft to average carbonation. Flavour is bitter, with resin, citrusy orange peel and grapefruit, as well as malts with cereals and toffee. Lingering bitter finish. Balanced and quaffable.

0,5 l can, Berlin version. Bright red brown in the glass, big light tanned head. Looking really good. Sweet malt and fruity on the nose. Taste starts with an all overlasting bitterness. Different taste more in the background. Also alcoholic bitterness. Little bit sticky. Boring due to the bitterness. Expected wayyyy more.

CAN 50 CL by Stone Berlin. Almost clear dark ruby-brown, nice beige head. The aroma has faint notes of caramel, more dark bread, very light roast. Traces of hops, and a hint of sweet cheese pie. Taste: just an impression of caramel, bready. The strong spicy bitterness - hoppy and slightly roasty - makes it feel dry and easy-drinkig. Light boozy notes just add to the spiciness. Silky smooth and easy-drinkig. Very good.

Hatalmas bézs, tartós hab, barna szín. Illata enyhe, némi karamell és fűszerek. Karamell, pici pörkölt maláta, fűszerek ízei érezhetők, hosszú lecsengéssel. Selymes, közepesen testes és szénsavas, erősen keserű. Jól felépített, izgalmas sör.
