Very dark brown pour, with a large beige head. Very smoky aroma, bacon, sausages, liquid smoke. The maltiness really does come through also in the aroma, slightly roasty, and a tad sweet. Mouth feel is fine, same goes for the carb. The finish is quite a bit less smoky than the aroma. The meatiness is still there, but the smoke fades. Quite a sweet malty finish, pand a good dose of bitterness. The sweet malts are nice to see, and make this a true german rauchbier. All too often smoke beers are dominated front to back by nothing but the smoke. Quite pleasant.

Part of their Oktoberfest 2014 mixed pack. Pours a deep red-orange colour with a big frothy light-beige head that lasts a long time and gives out creamy-foam lacing. Aromas of roasted malts, dark fruits, burnt wood and even tamari notes. The taste is balanced between some sweetness and some bitterness. The smokiness is hardly there. Sweetness from the fruitiness and some decent hop. Very mild burnt malt lingers in the end. A pretty good beer overall, but wish it was a little more smokey to be a real good Rauchbier.

Bottle: Poured a light amber color ale with a large off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light smoke with some light cereal notes is quite pleasant. Taste is also dominated by light smoked with some clean cereal notes with light grainy notes. Light caramel malt is also noticeable. Body is about average with good carbonation. Good entry level beer for people who are not sued to smoked malt.

Pours a coke brown with a finger of tan head. Nice caramel malts with a big whiff of smoke, a little, and this is a weird one, the smell of mice in a closed in space. The taste..great! Man, have I been waiting for a smoked beer that balances the smoke and the beer, so it doesn’t taste like you’re drinking a sausage. This does that, your get smoke, but some very nice caramel malts, some bittering hops too. Well done beaus. Most impressive one they’ve put out in a bit.
