This original release of this was a 2011 draft-only batch and is retired. In 2013/2014 bottled beer (also on tap at the brewpub) with a black label was the Bourbon Barrel Imperial Porter, but the label was not clear about that. The Autumn 2014 bottling (red label) is the return of the non-bourbon version.

Bottle at the mondiale 2014, listed as red racer imperial porter.
Very dark brown pour, but some light does get through, with a small rocky beige head. Aroma of robust roasted malts, sweet malts, brown sugar and some light soy notes. Full bodied, soft carb. I cant say im getting much bourbon notes of woody notes, the oak chips dont seem to be doing much i find. The finish is a medium bitter, with alot of roast that lingers, and it quite pleasant. Pretty run of the mill strong porter.

2015-02-10, draught at St. Augustine's, Vancouver; 2015; 7-4-8-4-15=38
Black color with generous compact beige head. Mild aroma of dried prunes. Full bodied, very smooth, with moderate sweetness, but not sticky; very good flavor of dark malts, some dark chocolate, and pleasant fruity touch that blends well with the malt. Strong bitterness.
Sweet, fruity, chocolatey Imperial Porter; excellent.
2014-03-06, draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver, 7-4-8-4-16=39
Parallel with the Central City Imperial Stout
Black color with beige compact head. The aroma expresses more chocolate and milk-coffee. A bit overly carbonated, but with a good and powerful dark chocolate flavor, some roasted malt; strong bitterness.
Straight forward to the style, very good.
2013-12-30, draught at St. Augustine's, Vancouver, 7-4-8-4-16=39
Black color with brownish creamy head. Roasted malt aroma, peppery. The body is strong, the mouthfeel is lean; good roasted malt flavor with some dark chocolate, quite rich, with light residual sweetness; correct bitterness; well balanced.
Straightforward; very good.

Always nice to find out what the folks over in Surrey are up to. This stuff has just a leetle bit of head, okay black body, sharp motor oil aroma like you were changing it on your SUV and it spilled all over your face. (Yeah, total fantasy there, we all know Vancouver types don’t stoop to changing their own oil. Ha!). Flavour is sharp barley, let’s say well hopped, no hint of booze. Well done, simple though, but a sessionable imperial porter. If there is such a thing. Oh yeah - there’s this thing, that’s a start I’d suppose.

Deep brown color. Big frothy light brown head. Big dark fruit, chocolate malt character. Very smooth, full body, dark fruit and chocolate. Pretty damn rounded with lingering dark fruit finish.

Bomber from ? Likely Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark brown with a foamy beige, almost tan, head. Aroma suggests chocolate cola. Which doesn’t seem like a good idea. Near full bodied. Flavor is treacle, a fair amount of hop, and maybe a little chocolate. This is, for me, more treacle than anything else. Arguably dark fruit, but not much typical porter aspect. Yet there’s hop, now coming as stone fruit and floral, and the chocolate is coming out as earthy darkish chocolate. I guess the main thing about this ale is that it is rather complex and has some surprises. Plus it tastes pretty good.

650 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with moderate head. Aromas of dark sour fruit, dark caramel, and coconut. Flavors of roasted malts, bitter nuts, and stale coffee with a hint of smoke. Dry. Nice enough but seems a little off balance.

Bottle -Roasted malts, bittersweet chocolate and a nice sweetness. Jet black with a nice brown head. Lots of roast, some peat and smoke with a bit of molasses. Really bold and quite nice.

Medium brown, rich fruity, plummy, dark malts, similar rich dark flavours, again with a touch of plummy depth, maybe thins out in the finish.

Bottle, thanks for sharing Josh & Sunshine. Light smoked, roasted vinous notes, Brown, low head, red shine. A bit honey, nice roasted malt profiles, finishes on a port and single malt note.
