Malta's first low-carbohydrate award-winning lager beer, Cisk Excel retains both the original Cisk Lager taste and the same alcohol level but with 50% less carbs. Within a year of its launch, Cisk Excel was voted the best low-carb beer at the World Beer Awards in the UK. With a distinctive taste profile, Cisk Excel easily rivals the mother brand in popularity and has gained a loyal following from the new generation of beer drinkers.

Cisk Excel is not just for carb-dodgers. Like Cisk Lager Beer, it has become a favourite at Malta's local "kazini" due to its lightness and easy-drinking, refreshingly sharp flavour. Cisk Excel is particularly enjoyable when accompanying fresh fish, shellfish and poultry.

Pours a clear golden color, topped with a decent white frothy head. Mild malty aroma, some grainy notes present. Taste starts sweet with some bready feel. Mild bitterness in the finish. Drinkable, but nothing special.

Tasting at Paul and Lorna’s flat. Deepest Croydonia. With dubious thanks to the Scopester! Bright clear gold beer, tidy white head. Airy palate, semi dry. Light fine carbonation. Light malts, insipid citrus. Light finsh. Seems fairly clean but it’s very dull.

Can at the pre-Zwanze tasting in Croydonia, thanks to Paulo, 20/09/14. Clear pale golden with moderate off white spotting and edgework. Nose is pale malt, lemon rind, grain, paper. Taste comprises paper, straw, citric rind, pale malt. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying clean crisp close. So so.

Tap at Black Gold, Sliema, Malta. Poured a crystal clear light amber with a thin broken white head and some broken lace. The aroma is yeast, light malt. The flavour is moderate bitter with a citrus yeast, light hop palate. Light bodied with average carbonation. Not great, but a big step up from the regular Cisk.

Can shared pre Zwanze 2014 - thanks to Mr. Malta! Pours perfectly clrear yellow, lightly effervescent, with a white cream head. Decent dough, cereal and hay on the nose. Light sweet flavor, basic pale bread, cereal, faint paper, some citrus fruits. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Simple cereal, pale bread finish with minimal bitterness. Fine.

Can shared at home. It pours clear gold with a small white head. The nose is sweet, doughy, corn, flour and buttered toast. The taste is clean, crisp, watery.... straw and not much else with a short finish. Light body and fine carbonation. Not much to it. Inoffensive.

Can. Pours clear pale golden with airy white head. Clear aroma of hops and yeast, with hints of citrus. Bitter flavour of hops, with pronounced notes of yeast and skunky touches. Acetic hints. Definitely not as low carb as advertised. Bitter and skunky aftertaste. Drinkable on a hot day but otherwise quite boring.

Straw. Light grainy aroma, very thin but clean. A drier Cisk that is light, uneventful.
